How Disappointing: "A problem has occured with your display driver"...
I haven't played in a long time, but I keep the game updated all of the time. So anyway I decided to fire it up today and got this message a few seconds after I try to run the benchmark or load the game:

"Your system may not have enough resources to run the game at the selected settings. ... Make sure you have the latest drivers for your video hardware, and try rebooting your system to help clear any issues."

I'm running the latest NVIDIA Driver (430.64). I have nothing else running in the background. Restarting didn't help. It happened with the older version before updating the driver too. Windows is up to date as well.

Specs:

RTX 2080
i7-8750H
24GB RAM

I don't get it. Any help?

Roll back gpu drivers untill you get a stable one.

I only have a 1070 and I'm ok with this game (well, I uninstalled it a few days ago. Fun game, just done with it, is all).

Apparently it's a driver thing. My driver's only 399.24 or something (lmao), never bothered updating (hey, if it ain't broke, don't fix it).

Some people say the latest drivers have conflicts with some games. I mean that's what they say anyway. Others say it is either due to, or in addition with, Directx 12, so, going back to Directx 11 might be better for this particular game.

did you try and run the game anyway? there have been known issues with it crashing after running the benchmark.

I got this message after I updated with the latest Nvidia driver.
I restarted my computer to clean any residual caches and then ran the game.
Roll back your gpu driver or update it to the one released yesterday.

Disable the steam overlay. Library > RClick on game > Properties > Uncheck "Enable steam overlay". This was crashing mine with this same error, right after clicking on Play in the launcher and seeing the steam overlay pop up.
