How much worse is steam version?
If i play steam version is it a completely ruined experience? im not interested in playing any DLC just base game. Does it just lack a few small bug fixes and thats it?

The other version is a little better with some fixes and more content.

Steam version is fine. It has a bug or two but nothing game breaking. Have fun.

I've also bought the game on Steam (not played yet), so this is nice to hear.

What's the reason the Steam version isn't patched, please? Some corporate drama behind it?

There was a legal argument between the developer and their publisher, I'm not sure if that has been resolved yet. The end result, or should I say the current situation is that the Steam version is the original version released by the developer before any bug fixing was done.
Will it be patched in the future? Nobody knows.
It's not a big deal imo, the few bugs I encountered were minor.

:steamthis: Thanks.

The steam version is fine. Only the shotgun freezing is annowing.
Smirkel May 28, 2023 @ 5:13am
yeah im about to beat the game. the shotgun freezing is really bad. also some of the icons are way too small i hope they fixed that in later versions.. few other bugs like occasionally you will see NPC glitched through the floor or floating

so several yrs later, steam version not patched and still dispute between the developer and publisher still ongoing? even after all these yrs?

Why does everyone keep mentioning Games planet. The game doesn't even exist on there anymore. Or so. I can't find it. I am willing to get the newer game since i originally got it on Epic Games.

What about the "The sinking city" official Website? is that safe to get it from there?

Did they settle their dispute? Is Frogwares selling their version on steam now? Is it safe to buy this game on Steam? I've been wanting to play this game ever since it got announced. I've managed to play the other Cthulhu game released around the same time as this title.

Hmm, looks like it got removed from GamesPlanet store just recently, I wonder why? Did Nacon won the lawsuit and now has rights for all versions?

Official Website looks outdated, like from the time when the game just came out... none of its purchase options are working.

Origin is also doesn't have the game on sale anymore (that was one of two alternatives of purchasing the game on Steam), looks like the only option that is left for PC platform - is to purchase the game on Steam.

It does look like the dispute between Frogwares and the publisher actually ended in favor of publisher, at least that the only explanation I can think of. Although, the PS5 and Nintendo Store still has this game on sale, it's the only working purchase options from Frogwares that is still available! It's worth to mention that Frogwares official website also has no links that would lead to purchase the game from any platform ( https://frogwares.com/frogwares-games/ ) that could mean that PS5 and Nintendo Switch version of the game might also disappear from sale!

You can buy the Necronomicon Edition there for PS5, Xbox, and Epic... bleh. ♥♥♥♥ me, though... I waited too long to get it from GamesPlanet too.

Played through epic version and when i started game it looked nice but more you play you notice how shallow and boring all NPC are in game and world is really boring and empty and nothing really can fix that
Vinnolo Dec 3, 2023 @ 6:31pm
game can no longer be bought in any store that isnt steam as of today (to play on pc), so either you buy it here or dont, game itself is fine, except for some bugs here and there

Frogwares won the fight. A new version of the game will be release in february with everything made for the game and new content. (Old saves will not work with it)
