Frogwares is now the sole publisher of The Sinking City
Hey folks, we have some big news.

Frogwares is now the sole publisher of The Sinking City on all platforms, including Steam. We're happy to finally put this whole thing behind us, and we look forward to sharing more news about the future of the franchise down the line.

Now, please read carefully the information below:

We will soon release a new version of The Sinking City - free for existing owners - that comes with all the latest bug fixes and optimizations as well as a few things to keep in mind:

  • Due to a number of technical reasons, your old saves won't be compatible with the new version. Don't worry though, when you launch the game, you will have the option to keep playing the old version if you want to finish it.

  • We're keeping the old version only for a limited time. Please, consider finishing your playthrough before February 28, 2024!

  • We will also release a new DLC, Merciful Madness, but please keep in mind that it will only work with the new version of the game. If you don't want to replay the game from scratch to access the DLC, you will be able to download the prepared saves that will take you straight to the start of the Merciful Madness quests.

We want to thank you all for your support and patience.

Your Frogwares Team

Hey will you be giving out steam keys for the people that have already bought this game?

That was a different DLC. Merciful Madness was never released.

Merciful Madness was released with the Frogwares version sold on Gamesplanet. It first released exclusively on Switch. Then they brought it to other platforms after a short period. I played it years ago with the DRM free version I bought from Gamesplanet.

Link?

No link but I have a screenshot from the error I get when i try to load a save in the current Steam version, the version Nacon originally uploaded to Steam included all the DLC as it was the version Frogwares made available on Gamesplanet.

If you don't believe us when we say that this DLC is not new, simply do an internet search for 'Merciful Madness DLC'. If this DLC was new, you'd only find recent posts.

Here is a page that states that the release date for the DLC on PC was July 27, 2019:
https://www.giantbomb.com/the-sinking-city/3030-54190/dlc/

If what you don't believe is that this DLC was included in The Sinking City when it was first released on Steam, you can read this Steam discussion thread:
https://steamcommunity.com/app/750130/discussions/0/3110269850338993106/

This game has a troubled history here on Steam. As I understand it, Nacon decided to download the Gamesplanet version of the game, modify the game files, then upload the game in its entirety here on Steam.

That initial version included--among others--the Merciful Madness DLC in the base game. Frogwares noticed this, and, after a while, the illegal version was removed from Steam and replaced with another build without the DLC included, and with some of the DLC available as separate purchases.

Good news! Question, will the game return on Epic with full support? If not, any way for a free Steam key if purchased there back in 2019...? (with Necronomicon DLC iirc)

would love to know the same thing... I am ashamed to admit but I also bought the game on Epic seeing the Steam drama - and I wanted desperately to play it

What about owners of your version that I purchased on Gamesplanet.com? I didn't buy on Steam specifically to support you and not the scammers. In this situation, can I count on a new version Steam key?

Thanks for the question - we are looking into it. Should have some news on Monday.

What about people who own the EA Launcher (formerly Origin) version? Will they get the updated version too?

The reddit post has a dead link to the deluxe edition being sold on Gamesplanet. I just logged into Gamesplanet and confirmed I own the deluxe edition. The links for Nintendo,PlayStation, and Xbox all include the merciful madness dlc.

Its new to Steam. It isn't new to the game. Not even on PC.

It was the first results when typing "Sinking City Merciful Madness" into google.

Thanks :) (2 Games in Library would be GOD LIKE)

At least "FIVE" (5) Trading Cards Set (cool Badges, Backgrounds, Emojis + Point Store Stuff (cool Stickers like Dead Space Remake etc.) & Steam Cloud please :cure:
Such fantastic news! And much deserved after the hard work put into the game.

I can't believe they'd put you through the ringer like that.

Can't wait for DLC. Please keep 'em coming!

...also, I hope Nacon likes their dishes served cold. :coolendo:

I think that Frogwares should've been published this news together with new version. Now we don't know when the new version will be available and it's no point to start playing old, because saves will be non compatible :/

So you're saying you'd rather be playing the old version in ignorance and then get a surprise update that broke your saves mid-campaign?

Lol, the early announcement is a good thing. It saved us from wasting our time on this old version.

I expect the update to come near the end of January.

No, I have plenty games to play, so no pressure. I've just started new Elden Ring playthrough. I just would like to know exact or estimated date.
