its playable and if you are a fan of HP Lovecraft's work, it can be enjoyable; BUT just be aware it has flaws. some of which have been known to prevent a few people from running it on their systems.

I had fun with the game and bought the DLC, but I purchased on sale. for 6 USD you could do worse on steam games.

Worth a $6 purchase, I would say yes. The mechanics and gameplay are decent and there's a surprising amount of depth to the story, and the side stories too. Don't misunderstand, this is a game about running around and shooting stuff, but if you like a good story, the twists and turns of plots; love, betrayal, power etc, then I imagine you'll enjoy it.

Yeah, but it's not the finished product of the game. There's a lot of legal stuff around it, if you want the finished version, you can get it from Frogwares site

Guess the only way to play all the dlc now is to buy on console.

I'm playing the game on PS and I have mixed feelings about it. I like the trailer, but when I entered the game I was quite disappointed. The graphics aren't as good as I expected and the game feels unfinished. The buildings are the same (so it's hard to tell if you already visited the place or it's a new one), there are only few types of enemies... and some other things spoil the experience. But if you are determinated to give it a shot, you might end up liking it. Side quests are great addition to the main story and they help you better understand the current situation in the city. The atmosphere fits Lovecraft's world - it's cold, rainy, foggy, people are desperate, fighting for food, unknown creatures are plaguing the city,.. Also the way how your character loses his sanity is well done. So if you really dive in the game and you're willing to overlook its flaws, you can get some fun for a decent price.

Yes, but you will find some minor bugs that the developers will not fix in this version.

frame rate drops through the floor on entering combat and weapons have no weight to them. i regret getting this on sale.

Follow the guide on unlocking the extra content. After replacing the EXE and adding the 2 PAK files, the framerate problems are fixed. Also, disable the steam overlay as it also causes issues.

Legal stuff around it? Explain. There is an unedited version of the game?

Wait, so you replace the .pak file that was installed (27,8 GB) with a version that's 16,2 GB.
That can't be right?

I'm referring to the cut DLC: https://www.nexusmods.com/thesinkingcity/mods/7?tab=files

thanks for the help, of course these are things the devs should have fixed long ago.

i tried to play further today and gave up after 90 mins because the other thing is the stupid resource farming - just make smaller monsters die in one hit, bigger ones in three or four rather than make us cheese crate respawns.

yes i could melee but from what i read when i looked to see if anyone had this issue, it will be significantly worse at boss fights. nothing on nexus mods to make weapons hit with more power so looks like after this second go I won't be playing further.

i would have been fine putting the work into the investigations which is kinda cool, but when every quest is likely to zero my ammo, putting a wall in front of me for the next quest, my personal call on whether they are wasting my time is yes, they are.
