Report a translation problem
With the discussion with Robert it just seems to be because they want force the idea prejudice bad, you shouldn't hate them. etc. etc. They're literally fish created by monsters man, ♥♥♥♥ em.
Characters can be written with different ideologies, attitudes and ways of thinking based on their life story. For example, Charles Reed could have opinions on racism from serving in the Navy and working alongside people of different backgrounds.
So, yeah, this is a weird thing to focus on in a game that takes a lot of strange takes on the mythos (many of them, sadly, lazy).
If you want to RP a racist I suggest you go play the excellent Disco Elysium (although you might be saddend to hear that no one really likes a racist).
But I guess they got taught a lesson when Det. Walters blew up the city of the deep ones and the army/G-men destroyed most of Innsmouth in CoC: Dark Corners of the Earth. So maybe we should have some pity on them this time around.
