Who preorders Digital games? Why do you assume people are that dumb?

I don't think it's trash, it's just average. It feels like a third person Dark Corners of the Earth with a bigger focus on the investigative stuff. I like it more than the other Call of Cthulhu game that came out recently.

It's a buggy mess for $75 when they got an epic deal of $2m. They're over charging, and they got a grant from epic. It's pure greed.

You got a source that states they got $2 million from Epic?
There is no genuine proof that their grant with Epic was $2m, it could be more. The contract is signed with a non-disclosure agreement. However, for every contract signed, Epic gives an exclusive one-time grant.

You can find a similar program here: https://www.unrealengine.com/en-US/megagrants

Actually, no, not every contract signed get any upfront money. Double Damage, Saber Interactive, Snap Shot games, and there are a few more that I can't remember now, have all stated that they did not get any upfront money at all to be exclusive.

The megagrant is something different, it has no strings attached, it is free money with zero obligations to Epic.
I literally said it was something related, not exactly what it is.

Nowhere have I found that they didn't receive payment.

Infact, I found a large amount of posts saying they did. An example: https://www.reddit.com/r/PhoenixPoint/comments/b0xz5c/why_taking_epics_money_was_the_stupidest/

here is what the developer of Phoenix Point stated on their discord channel, stating they went with the minimum guarantee

Saber Interactive:

A Saber representative said Epic is not paying the company or giving it an advance to put World War Z on the store, but "there are incentives for the PC version being released exclusively there versus Steam.

Double Damage:

No money has changed hands. And about 4 mos I think? A little bit before we announced the game at PAX.

Our deal with Epic does not involve any upfront money, but we DO respect the NDA terms of our arrangement.
I'll have to heavily look into this then.
Considering how this game is released on the Unreal Engine, and how they did a complete 180, it's still not something to put away and will still be considered suspicious.

Anyway, i hope it was worth losing customers base. For sure, even if they secure their future, they cant count on me to buy any of their future games.

The few video games specific websites worth reading that we have in France agree to say that this game is average at best. 5/10 on the one I usually read, they also gave 4/10 at that Call of Cthulhu game. Happy to see that some good professional press still exists.

I'm still going to get it when it comes on Steam. People said the same things about Days Gone, and I loved that game. Funny how before launch I kept seeing 7's and 8's and now recently other sites are pouring out 5's and 6's (sort of like Days Gone's launch, but in reverse :P).

My thoughts exactly, definitely a 5/10 game for the average player, and a 7/10 for Lovecraft fans.

It's janky, buggy, almost broken, but more than makes up for it with the story, dialogues and exploration/investigation bits.

All in all I think it might be the best Mythos-inspired game we got since Dark Corners, definitely better than Call of Cthulhu in my opinion.

How are they going to say they got paid upfront money if its in the NDA. You guys know what a NDA is right it probably says in the NDA that they can not disclose that they were paid duh.
If they disclose any information not allowed just to make some customers happy then they get sued for millions.

Doesn't sound like a good idea to go against a NDA and get sued just to make some people happy. They got paid from Epic if not already then in the future whats the difference they took the money signed the deal.
