Review from the Switch version
So, bought this game the week it was released for the Nintendo Switch. I'm 100% certain it will have the exact same functionality, so here's my opinion of the game;

I've put in about 20 hours since it's release. And it is one of the most fun rogue-likes I've played. I'm a huge fan of turn-based RPG's, and DFZ has built this game around that core mechanic. Because of the broken English, it is very difficult to completely understand what it is you're doing right off the bat. But playing through over and over and dying results in you learning the game in a "trial-by-fire" way. Each monster in the dungeon has a "fang", which is basically an item that gives you an active and passive ability. There's also a benefit when you sacrifice, or "offer up" the fangs. As you collect fangs in you different runs, you get a "database" entry that tells you not only the fang abilities, but also the monsters stats, like attack and health and defense. So the more you play and explore, the more you know about your enemies. There is also a "warehouse mechanic", where specific items in the dungeon allow you to send items out of the current run and save them for another attempt. In this way, you can build up super strong equipment and not have to worry about randomly getting a stronger sword or shield or fang. Playing alone in this game is fun in and of itself. The most fun I've had so far is when I get a group of guys and we all work together completing the dungeon. Because it is turn based, each action holds weight. There's also a turn counter that regenerates a slight amount with every floor you progress. Managing not only your limited inventory, but also how many moves you have left is all a part of the challenge. When you collect different items in the dungeon, (ex: swords, shields, staffs, boxes, etc.), they are in an unknown state, You have to either use a different item to discover what the itme is, or use it and discover the ability. What results can vary from equipping a very strong sword early on, or finding a debilitatin staff ability, or casting an upgrade spell or getting cursed with lower level equipment. And with the exception of the layout of each boss level, everything is completely random. You could find yourself in a situation where you have good items but no weapon, or vice versa.

This game has been immensely fun and well worth the $25 price tag it came with. If you are looking for a game similar to Faster than Light, I would recommend this game to you. If you don't want to blindly play a game and have to take time learning as you fail and die over and over to stupid situations, you'd better find a different genre.

Thank you for the review. I am planning to get this on my Switch so I decided to go here to look for any Switch review(yes, I'm too lazy to google reviews sometimes lol) and I'm not disappointed after finding one. haha

Yeah, it took a few runs to get the basics down thanks to the really bad translation, but if you play games like this you'll get it soon enough.

Also, there have been several patches for Switch, and while the translation is still pretty bad it's much better than it was on launch there.

First of all, thank you for writing such an elaborate review.

But I need you to clear something up: Isn't this strictly a single-player game?

Then where on earth does getting a group of guys and you all working together fit within the story?

Didn't they say that they'll patch the english translation?

It's been patched a few times on Switch, it's still laughably bad, but at least it's now to the point where you can figure out what they mean.

The translation seems ok except for how in the character title bar it has their names spelled one way and then in the dialog box the characters name is spelled totally different.

My only regret buying this on the Switch, is I couldn't refund it there.
The translation is genuinely awful.

How come this retale to Faster than Light?
This more a roguelike mystery dungeon.

I agree with the above user. Definitely a Mystery Dungeon game. It’s a sub genre that goes back to the early 90s with the SNES Shiren game (quite similar to this game). If you enjoyed the style of gameplay I’d recommend checking out the mystery dungeon genre Wikipedia page that lists them all. You’ll likely find a bunch more you like.

Even the Pokemon ones are actually pretty good, as are some of the fan games that you can download for either free or incredibly cheap, though things like this and Touhou Genso Wanderer and Cladun Returns are probably the best current ones the genre ages rather well so you can grab some pretty old titles and not feel like you're in a time machine in a bad way.
