The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II

*Potential Spoilers* "I'll Remember You" seems like it was written for something else
The lyrics in the song "I'll Remember You" seem like they were written for another situation that has nothing to do with Crow or Cold Steel whatsoever.

Rather, it's like a generic romantic song that was written to be presented from a woman to a man in a romantic tragedy movie, or something like that.

It comes across as if Falcom co-opted the song from a random different source that has no relation at all to their games, but then haphazardly copy & pasted it into their game anyway, and hopes no one notices that it doesn't really fit.

Is that actually what happened?

Or what's going on here?

Something is definitely amiss & fishy.

No, the lyrics do work with Cold Steel, the thing is that while the song is in theory supposed to be about Crow, the lyrics aren't describing Rean and Crow's interactions, but instead more closely match some notable interactions of Rean and Alisa. In these lines:

"When the lino flowers were in full bloom, we met.
and together we counted the stars in the summer sky."

And it doesn't seem like the song is talking about Class VII as a whole, as the lyrics specify "we two".

The lino flowers lyrics further corroborate my point rather than to disprove it.

That's romantic imagery about being lovers, not friendship language.

And if the song is about Rean & Alisa, then it makes no sense why it features an image of Crow prominently on it's title card, which clearly is meant to signify that is indeed about Crow & Rean.

Furthermore, it makes no sense that Rean is going to "remember" Alisa since she is still alive and easily contactable by him whenever he feels like it.

Is this the song that plays at the part where all of Rean's friends graduate early and leave him behind?

Nah, it's the song after the Final chapter (not the Epilogue)

Um, does it come immediately after the big fights in the castle, but before some long chain of events that I don't remember, and in turn before everyone graduates?

Yup, after "Rean yell at the guy" well, Osborne if you want to be specific and before the Special Chapter (that's before the Epilogue)
