Question about Cold Steel NG+ (I, II and III?)
Hey all,

(spoiler alert!)

so I've almost finished CS II and learned through a walkthrough about the black record books. These books are something you can only get by playing NG+ . There is also an optional boss and optional scene I believe...

Anyway, please no spoilers, I was wondering if I can play NG+ without any of the buffs NG+ would get me. No link levels, character levels, items, and so forth. I know I can select stuff at the start of NG+, but I want to make sure if I don't select anything, I really won't get anything.
So the game will be like a regular NG game, except the extra stuff like the books and boss are unlocked. Is this possible?

And how is this for Cold Steel I and III? And perhaps even further, are things like this in trails of the Sky as well? And the other two japanese games?

Thanks!

Yes it is possible , thats exactly what I did as well well. Just start a ng+ save but dont import anything at all, and it will be like a normal run. I would however advise you to select the "maximum bonding points" bonus to see all the character bonding scenes.

Cold steel 2 ng + does indeed add the black record books and if you collect them all you get an extra cutscene. That cutscene is cannon and Cold Steel 3 assumes the player has seen it (dialogue reflects that). The bonus boss is just extra content , see it as a small optional challenge.

Alright, and what about ng+ for CS I or CS III ? Anything new there as well?

And is it not so that the character bonding scenes are only all visible if you save scum?

There is one thing that will be forced on you on ng+ regardless of your choice: all fish will be available for catching at Ymir from the start. The rest only carries over if you choose it to
CS1 is the same. CS3 can't say as I didn't try ng+ in it
In sky there aren't points you spend on carry overs. You can choose everything (or nothing. Or just something) from the get go
In Crossbell games you need to get achievements that reward you with points you can spend to unlock carry over options (it sounds confusing but it's not all too bad)

I havent done a ng+ on CS3 but to my knowledge no there isnt. Nothing new for CS1 either.

You dont need to save scum on ng+ . One of the bonuses you can select for ng+ is to have no limit on bonding points ( you basically get exactly as many points as the bonding events that are available). This allows you to see all the bonding events with all characters except the final (romance) one where you have to choose.

Yep its an option in all cold steel games. Personally I started my first runs with ng+ saves given by other people online just because of that , I always want to see as much of the story as possible.

Well, the thing is, I'm asking because I plan to let's play this series of games once I played all trails games on my YouTube channel. But knowing in CSII there are bonus things on NG+, I wanted to make sure the audiance also can experience everything of the story :D .

Do you know anything about the other trials games perhaps in this regard?

There is also something in cold steel 4 but I cannot explain it without spoiling things. I didnt notice anything in cs1 cs 3 and the first 2 of sky series ( i think there are no extra scenes in the sky games either to be honest) . I havent touched the crossbell games though, saddly

So there is something in NG+ of CS 4? Alright, good to know.
What about the third sky series game? Do you know?
And none of these before mentioned games have extra items or bosses like CS II does?

Thanks for all your help!

I am not sure if requires ng+ or re-loading a save, I need to confirm when I finally play the game myself in octomber.

I cant say 100% sure for third sky game , I started it just a few days ago, but no I dont think there is anything in ng + . Would be better if someone that has finished it confirms it though.

To be honest I dont know why they decided to do the black recordcs a ng+ only option in CS2. Especially since its not just something extra but something canon that is mentioned in cs3
