Both games spoil each other because what happens in Crossbell affects Erebonia and vice versa as both games stories occurs in parallel. With that said Crossbell did came out before ToCS, so it's hard to consider it a spoiler to since it was intended to be played before ToCS.
And yes, Rixia's identity is indeed a massive spoiler for Trails From Zero, and by knowing that before having played it, you will have wrecked the experience of a large chunk of that Zero game, which is specifically designed to provide a long build-up regarding Rixia that only possibly works if the player doesn't know the spoiler about her.
On a similar note: the incompetent fake news "games journalism" media also spoiled that point without giving the reader any warning in recent weeks, when they wrote in a very reckless way about Rixia's return in the upcoming CS 5/Crossbell 3 hybrid game.
So if you follow Falcom news, you would have had the game ruined for you by the nefarious media anyway, even if you didn't play them out of order.
Besides Crossbell Kai is said to be changing/retconning some things in order to better fit with elements of CS; so if you haven't played Crossbell yet, you're really better off waiting for the updated version.
Why are exaggerating amd enlarge everything? Rixia only appear at Chapter 2, you see her before, but only at Chapter 2 you really meet her. Then massive tension built, as we got to know her second identity. then after braeth taking dungeon, after you almsot lost all your life, your'e got to the end of dungeon, breathing heavliy fight the epic battle, with Rixia second identity. then you watch the end events with the question in your head, who is the identity? I have to contine to see whose the mystrios identity? Then after all this thoughts, the game just reavel you the massive spolier, ten minutes later reveal you Rixia identity. (I put here a spolier tag, alltough I'm not sure)
seriously if Falcom wanted Rixia identity to be spolier she should try better, like not give her portrait.
If someone want to play the game without any spolier you should play FC -> SC -> 3rd (without star door 8 - it reavel you the civil war which gonna happen at CS 1) -> Zero ->CS 1 - until chapter 5 -> AO until trade confrance (I didn't play AO yet) - hold it -> return to CS 1 only to wait befoe the final events of CS1 -> return to AO until you reach the event of destory Garrlia frotress -> finish CS 1 -> Finish Sky 3rd -> Start CS 2 until the event of the blue tree -> finish AO -> finish CS 2
It seem that Falcom don't really care form player getting spolier, maybe they sould get used to it. sorry to tell but problay you will be dead as most pepole who died at age 80
*If* Crossbell Kai wiil get to the West? probably but certainly not. Even then, we don't know how much time the translation is gonna take. Next year? why restrain if you have very good fan translation and good fan translation?
They both spoil each other in a sense that you go into either game already knowing what ends up happening during some events.
It's the extent of what's revealed. The ending of Azure spoils a couple major plot points of CS 1 and 2. Most notably the result of the civil war and the chancellors fate. Those are pretty big in my opinion. CS 1 and 2 were already enough of a step down in terms of characters and storytelling, that knowing how these two scenarios unfold would make playing through the games feel like a drag. Mainly because both games basically revolve around those events.
On the other hand, CS2's spoilers of Azure are pretty low key. Yeah you know about the city being enveloped in a barrier, and that it gets removed. You also know about the Azure Tree, and that it too eventually gets removed. You know about Crossbell declaring independence, and there being a new mayor. But you don't know anything about the Crois legacy or the Sept-Terrion of Zero, which is pivotal information. So in this case the reveals don't hold much weight without the specifics. It's still a big mystery. However, in the case of Azure to CS 1 & 2, the reveals hold pretty significant weight without knowing the how's or why's due to the nature of the reveals and that so much of CS 1 & 2 revolves around them.
As far as Rixia is concerned. You really didn't spoil yourself that much. Her "true" reveal in Zero is pretty lame, since it just kind of "happens" with no one there to see except the player. Her "true" reveal to the party doesn't happen until Azure, and by then it's way overdue. In fact the party doesn't even seem all that surprised if I remember correctly. In any event, her true identity is meant to be revealed to the player before the party anyway. So knowing that, I don't really think that's considered a big spoiler.
But, I can't imagine that anyone would assume Rixia is a regular NPC. The game immediately gave her portraits, she had multiple story-line and random encounters with Lloyd and company, and seemed like a high tier waifu. She's clearly an important character, if not a playable character, from the very beginning. And if you've been a Trails fan half as long I have, it's more surprising if a mysterious character doesn't have a secret identity or crazy backstory.
But it is not just about spoilers when it comes to playing them in various orders. If you are OCD about spoilers the best way is to follow this guide someone made: https://imgur.com/a/vL0SdjH
Not that I would ever recommend it though. Like I said, it is not just about spoilers. It's also about game mechanics, graphics, playable characters. Playing CS 1 & 2, then Crossbell then jumping back to CS3 is going to be a jarring experience. Not to mention you ruin one of the epilogue scenarios in CS2 which will evoke emotions to anyone who have played the Crossbell games beforehand. In addition to that, some of the characters from Trails in the Sky get more character development (I'm being vague on purpose) in the Crossbell games which is another reason you should play the Crossbell games after Trails in the Sky and not Cold Steel.
All in all, I don't think it is that of a big deal to play Cold Steel first, you won't ruin the whole series or anything. But I do think the Japanese release order will get you the most enjoyment out of the games.
