Change the battle music
I love the game so far, but I can't stand the battle music. If you like it, more power to you. But I simply hate it. Especially that first few second intro fanfare.

Is there any way to change it to something else? Anyone have any good advice?

I don't want to remove ALL music and play my own soundtrack. The rest of the songs are fine. I just want to switch out the terrible battle song.

Thank you. I found it and fixed it. I just copied another wav file with good battle music and then pasted it over the bad music. Now all is great again. :)

Haha, I should have. I was just lazy and took the battle theme from the first game.

I should've used this instead, but too much effort: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sk-9ihcy2R8

For future readers, i'll save you the trouble: ed8420 is the main and most annoying battle theme.
ed8442 is the miniboss theme (the one with violins).
personally i swapped the former with Mass Destruction from Persona 3, and the latter with Blinded by Light from FFXIII (because violins lol).

That being said, i do have the problem that for longer battles, my themes will not loop unlike the game's original themes, so it'll just go into silence. Anyone has an idea how to fix this (besides swapping in very long tracks)?

For the loops, I suggest the use of Wavosaur. It's a sound editing software that allows you to add loops very easily. The only tricky thing (if you want the loop to be good) is when you have to choose the millisecond the loop begins and when it ends.

I have a tool that can listen to, and easily replace the music and back up the original should they want it to be restored. All the track titles are also built in. Scroll down to the bottom of this page, its called ToCS Music Manager: https://imgur.com/a/fAwBB

that's the first thing i tried before attempting any manual change, but your script doesn't seem to work on my pc (windows 7). Hard to tell why since the shell closes immediately.
Bighead May 2, 2018 @ 5:27pm
Thanks for the heads up. I usually test these things in a VM but I failed to do it for this. Windows 7 can be tricky because it still uses PowerShell v2, and while I try to create all my scripts to be compatible with it sometimes I accidentally use features that don't exist until v3.

But in this specific case, I did manage to get it to work in my Windows 7 VM right away with no changes, although not without an error message saying that a COM Object failed to load. This much should be fixed now, so can you let me know if it works now?

- It should also be noted that I think you must have at least .NET Framework v4.5 (or newer).
- PS Execution Policy is a bit more restrictive in Windows 7. I included a batch script to change this to "Unrestricted", this could also be why it's closing immediately.

Latest version is 1.15 and can be found in the usual place:

the shell was indeed set to restricted apparently. Not sure if that was the cause of the problem, but in any case it now works, thank you :)

Thank god I found this thread, I hated the CS2 battle theme because the song... well... I'm not sure. I just think that intro is trash for a non-boss theme (for a boss it would probably work fine). Its just too epic sounding? I swapped it with CS1's battle theme and its all good now.
