Elise? (minor spoilers)
So it's December 26th in my game, and Rean has shown absolutely no convern about getting back his kidnapped sister. He can sit with mopey Elliot doing some lame music thing, but no thoughts of his sister at all. Dude, wtf?

He doesn't worry because it isn't Patrick who kidnap her.

I'm not 100% sure when December 26th takes place in the game, but that's after the Intermission Chapter, right? In the Intermission (Spoilers for Intermission) Rufus and Cayenne give their words that, whether or not Rean decides to help or go against the Nobal Alliance, his sister would remain unharmed since they aren't "monsters". I also don't think he knows where she is or how to get her back, so there isn't really much reason to worry about her all things considered.

Maybe, but the guy shows more concern about the death of a Jaeger who tried to kill him multiple times than he does about Elise.

Well that's the problem between story-driven RPG and side quest / side activities...They often don't mash-up very well. Like going fishing during an urgent mission.

Speak of lame side quest, Trails games have them aplenty: like looking for stray cats, lost wallets, pretty much every trails game have these social worker quests lol.

Hmm, I can't say that I agree. If Elise died, I imagine Rean would have completely lost it. He might have been showing more concern for Vulcan at that moment than for Elise, but Vulcan was the one in imminent life-threatening danger, and not Elise.

As for why he cares about Vulcan: Rean is a very compassionate person, and he very much cares about others' lives, even his enemies, and I would think he cares more about their's than his own life.
There's no reason to worry about Elise; harming her would only be to the detriment of the Noble Alliance. If word got out that they had injured an innocent noble (remember, it was only Rean who has been attacking the NA. Although the Schwarzers declined Cayenne's offer to join the NA, they are still officially neutral), the noble houses still on the fence will be pushed away from the NA and lean towards joining the Imperial forces. It would also tarnish the NA's image as being the righteous cause, as they have built their entire narrative around the Imperial government being unjust. Furthermore, it is a public fact that the Schwarzers are held in high regard by the Imperial family. With the NA's narrative being that they are acting the Imperial family's best interest, word of Elise's injury would raise suspicion.

Rean knows that Elise is being kept somehwhere safe, and is highly unlikely to be harmed, especially with Cayenne and Rufus in charge. If anything, he should be more worried about Crow possibly dying on the battlefield, or being silenced by shadier figures like Ouroboros.

Elise is being kept safe because Rufus? yes
Elise is being kept safe because Cayenne? no. He does not give a S. Dude almost killed the next emperor

Rean knows Elise was safe because Rufus promised him. I am not sure Rean would trust Cayenne's promise at all.

The only thing Cayenne's really done is giving Rean a rough "invitation" to board the Pantagruel. I doubt he's super trustful of Cayenne, but he doesn't have any reason to think that he's lying, I would think. Regarding your spoiler (End Game Spoilers) Syrin hasn't gotten that far in the game yet and I didn't want to mention that as it would be too spoilery. At this point in the story, though, Cayenne hasn't really done too much to make Rean too untrusting of him. Though I agree that it was mostly Rufus reassuring him that let him keep going without having to worry much abour Elise's safety.

It was Rufus bringing up Elise being kept safe regardless that prompted Cayenne to agree in the first place, so I agree with you. I just didn't want to bring up why Cayenne is an untrustworthy person at this point, since up to the Intermission he hadn't really done too much, and OP hasn't gotten to the Finale yet.

"If word got out." It's as if the notion that the NA wouldn't just straight out lie about Elise' condition doesn't cross anyone's mind, despite the fact the NA are already lying through their teeth about the imperial family's situation. What's one more in the grand scheme of things?

Elise doesn't serve any purpose in this game, just like Crow. She is just a background.

Rean wasn't worried because he knew that she was still alive and Rufus made a promise and kept that promise

Don't forget about her unhealthy obsession/infatuation for Rean, the way she talks about her brother or the way she talks to her brother. Makes it all seem like she is interested in him romantically and wants to be his girlfriend and future wife etc. Everyone see's it and yet Rean is oblivious or acts oblivious to it

Rufus has proven himself to be honorable despite his treason.
