The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II

Last battle after the story.
How did you guys fight in that one against Rean and Altisa? The fight literally end in like 5 or 6 turns every time for me as Rean always opens with gale ex with seems to be 100% seal for 3 turns and knocks off atleast 60-70% of my health of both characters. When altisa goes next Lloyd is always dead before he even gets a turn in and Rixia is at 30% health at best.

It's almost impossible to heal against those 2 pounding on you let alone to get a turn in to revive Lloyd.

I need some tactic advice on this one.

Hmm, honestly I don't remember much of what I did for the Rean and Altina fight. I'm pretty sure I had Lloyd use his Burning Heart craft often and had Rixia use Vanishing Moon was it called? The one that causes her to be invincible. I would be very careful with the Turn Bonuses and using my S-Crafts.

If they're somehow always going first and killing Lloyd before he even gets a turn, maybe you're just getting really unlucky? Or you may need to try and set up your characters a little better? Do you have a save or autosave (autosaves are kept on Page-0, iirc) before the fight? Maybe try putting both Lloyd and Rixia in the far back and maybe try and put some quartz with extar speed or defense on Lloyd to keep him from dying too fast?

You could always try and get an extra level or two while getting more sepith for quartz if you need any. Sorry if this isn't very helpful. I don't know much of what to do in this scenario. There definitely has to be some way to win this though.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

That's not the last battle, and her name is Altina. I don't completely recall how I beat that one, but I think you need to abuse Lloyd's special +50% boost, and keep it going so he never faints. Probably focus on Altina first as she has low HP.

Ugh that setup needed means I need to farm for like an hour or so >.<

edit: how dafuq did he get 2 attack 3? I went through it all and only got about 300 fire septims for 2 attack 3 you need 1800 o.o

This is the first time I actually had to farm to continue lol

I believe that mobs drops lots of attack 3, action 3 quartzes.

There is another one with a little different approach.

I need some info on this chapter.

You get to play 2 random characters and get about 2 dozen names trown at you which to me mean nothing really and it makes me feel like I'm missing a huge part of the story somewhere.

Is this all coming later or where they from the previous trails games as an easter egg kind of thing? I'm at the next free day that comes just after and I'm really drawing a blank on why I had to play that part.

The Legend of Heroes series is an ongoing storyline that began in Trails in the Sky FC. There are three arcs of games so far: The Trails in the Sky arc, which leads in to the Crossbell arc, which leads in to Cold Steel. Trails of Cold Steel and Crossbell take place at the same time and converge in CS3+4. This chapter in CS2 is a little bit of fanservice for the people who played Crossbell, as they get to see a little bit of what happened to everyone after the occupation began and sets up Rean's interaction with the SSS (protagonists of Crossbell) in CS3+4. It also shows the decrepit state of Rean's life after Osborne's return.
Falcom insisted that XSEED localize CS1+2 first, so there are no official English localizations of the Crossbell games as of yet. However, over the past few years, the community has been fantranslating the two Crossbell games, with translations for both of them available and finer edited versions with patches in the works. You can legally buy Zero no Kiseki (first half of Crossbell) from DLsite and then apply the translation patch to it. Link to Luke's guide for buying and patching Zero.

The 2 random characters are protagonists from the previous Crossbell games that never got localized in the west, Crossbell will be pretty siginificant part of story in Cold Steel 3 and 4.

The two random characters aren't really random at all. They're major characters from the Crossbell games, Trails from Zero and Trails to Azure, that do not have official English localizations yet (and probably won't ever). Since most Japanese fans had already played Zero/Azure, it was supposed to be a callback to them and to foreshadow Crossbell's significance into the plot of the future Cold Steel games. It was a good excuse to have some Crossbell fanservice while simultaneously showcasing Rean's character development after the events atop the Infernal Castle.

If you're interested in Zero and Azure, there are unpolished English fan translations available for both games. The translations can be overly literal and rough around the edges, but they're fully playable and understandable, and the games are fantastic.

I don't know from where you are quoting me. Being first as always helps but it is not a must.

IMHO this battle shows who took time to learn game/battle mechanics and developed some battle strategies instead of relying on cheap tactic (no offence). You can't nuke the enemy with
S-Craft since you don't have access to broken builds and you cannot delay enemies as well so you have to find other way to beat this boss.

As for Crossbell arc, I will only add that fan translation of Zero is finished and editing is on 70% at this moment. If we are lucky we might play this game this year. I prefer to play official localized game from Falcom/Xseed but since there is no info yet I consider playing it with fan translation.

Hmm not really no, they dont have any resistance to delay. I just farmed a bit and stacked a bunch of Impede and Action quartz on Rixia and Lloyd then spammed regular crafts and went overdrive when low on CP, they barely got any turns and whenever they did they were either Fainted or Asleep so they just lost their turns all the time. This was on hard also... It's very easy to break this game, even with those 2.

@fall the moofia boss, @beastslayer, @Ellipsis: ahh ok I get it. I actually like the idea of continues arcs in the same world and would like the play those other arcs aswel. I'm really hoping they will see that CS1 & CS2 were successful on steam and bring the others over aswel with english localization. Doesn't have to be english voiced as Japanese is just fine aswel with translations.

@wilq Rean seems to always use "Gale EX" when he has the first turn which seals you with a pretty high success rate so getting your speed up a bit to prevent that would be a good start and I never really bothered to make a setup for those two as i though this was just some last play thing and I got my ass handed to me lol

The chances of Rean's first move to be Gale EX is quite high but is not always. I would say it is more 50/50 than 100%. One of characters also should have grail locket equipped so the only problem would be when Rean seals the other character. Forunately there are many ways to cure this status such as Arts, Curia Balm or Overdrive that heals all status changes.
