How do I transfer clear data from the first game?
When I start a new game of ToCS II and attempt to transfer my clear data from ToCS I, the only save file that shows up is the one I saved after I started a new game + of ToCS I after beating the game. ToCS II will not accept that save file. Is there anything I can do to remedy this?

I don't what the issue is, game does not see clear data save or there is no clear data save (e.g. You didn't save, it was overwritten etc.) . If I were you, the first thing I would do is load the save before beating the game and simply do it again and then saved the clear data. Just make sure to start new game in ToCS2 to load clear data save from ToCS, instead of trying to load the game.
You have to import the clear game save you made when you beat the first game, after the credits rolled and you see the scene with the field of swords.

I did not keep a separate save file from right when I cleared the game. I saved over it with a save file from the new game+. I assumed that would work, but it doesn't. The only other save file I have is from midway through the first play-through. I guess I'll just have to play the second game without carrying over my progress from the first game.

Yes, Clear data save is different from a regular one so if you saved over it, it won't work.

Since ToCS games give you lots of save slots to save the game I highly recommend to use them. It is a good idea to save on different slot after more or less 1 hour of gameplay. So if you do something wrong you can simply load the game from previous slot.

If you want to, you can simply load clear data save from other people since there are lots of them on this forum (or you could find it using google). Just make sure that this save matches your choices in ToCS.

Ouch. The upside is you don't need any of the items you would get, the game is really easy anyway.

Thanks, Wilq. I'm pretty new to PC gaming and I guess I didn't really utilize the save slots like I should have. Maybe I'll just finish my second play-through of the first game and then play the sequel.

Hmm, that's not a PC thing. Clear Data saves go back to Super Nintendo, actually I think even the NES had Clear Data saves, in Legend of Zelda.

Hmm ... I've played pretty much all the Zelda games and I don't remember any of the sequels carrying over save data from a previous title. But I'm not saying it never happened.

No, they were Clear Data saves that let you play a new game+. It showed a star next to your name I think. The new game+ in Legend of Zelda was actually really cool with completely different and more complicated dungeons, even changed the locations of dungeons and made them harder to find. Chrono Trigger also had Clear Data , on SNES.

Aha. I see what you're saying. I'm used to that, but what I'm not used to is setting aside a clear save for use with future games. After all, I did use my clear save data in ToCS I to play the game+. But then I immediately saved over it. Whoops.

Yeah, like I said, it's not a big deal. I don't think it carries over anything but some items. In Trails in the Sky the 3rd it was a big deal because there were certain scenes you could see with it, but I don't think that's the case with ToCS, maybe someone on here can tell me if I'm wrong.

I was reading up on it and it looks like I will miss out on a few character comments but nothing major other than the special items. I don't really want to download another person's game save. Like you said, these are easy games anyway.

Hmm, if it's what I'm thinking, they are comments like "Oh I remember when you helped us with that quest. Thank you!" I don't think you get hidden scenes.

OK, cool. I can definitely live without that.
