you just summed in one sentence why CS is so lacking when compared to other Trails
Well it might be me being a little hasty since I saw the design before playing the game, that and I saw the S-Craft pose on the internet which is really......well....lets not get into it.
Also yeah not gonna lie compared to Sky games and zero no kiseki CS games kinda lack. I do think they are still great though, if not for anything the well designed gameplay. (battle system , convinient trails designs for the players etc etc..)
♥♥♥♥ orbment System, 0 difficulty, everyone having AT-delay, etc..
Sky the 3rd set such a high bar for gameplay that it's probably just really hard for them to recreate, especially since the new mechanics they've added are game-breaking on a fundamental level. Imagine how easy 3rd would be if we had stuff like Overdrive and MQs like Moebius or Angel. Even the Loewe + Cassius fight on NG nightmare would be a pushover.
Changing the orbment system is my biggest gripe, though. Mixing and matching quartz for different arts let you get really creative with setups, whereas lines hardly even matter in CS.
On the topic at hand, Altina's outfit really isn't that bad. Honestly, Fie's outfit is a lot more revealing than hers. It's really not noticeable unless you pay close attention, in my opinion.
I'm hesitant to say much regarding the CS games compared to Sky since that is not the point of the thread, but I will say that it is pretty unfair to compare an Arc that is only at its build-up games to a fully completed Arc and say that it is somehow inferior. A fairer comparison would be CS I and II to only FC.
Let's agree to disagree for now. I don't want to derail the thread anymore than it has been already.
Also yes I do know about the "reasoning" behind her weird outfit. Its just I think they could have toned it down a little bit. Because there is a certain line that says "symbolism" and just plain fanservice. I also want to stress that even in cold steel games we still have cool designs that don't rely on sexuality trope whether it is from a returning character or not. For example who can forget the amazing Lance Maiden.
There's only one scene in the game (that I can remember) that would relate to sexuality regarding Altina, which is when she mistakenly assumes Rean was staring at her for less-than-noble reasons when he stumbles upon her sleeping on the Pantagruel, and nearly sics Claiomh Solaris on him for it.
The S-Craft art isn't as bad as it's being made out to be, either. The only questionable thing about it to me is the way her legs are posed, which is still tame in comparison to a LOT of other depictions of similar characters in Japanese games. Her design in CS3 is definitely a big improvement, though - I will definitely agree with you on that one.
Ah, right, completely forgot about that. Good catch.
It's hard to imagine someone coldly calculating as her to be "joking around", though.
