Realflight is not really a game but rather a flight simulator to help those interested in flying real radio controlled aircraft to gain the necessary skills. I have RealFlight G2 (really old now) but it does help transition sim time to actual r/c flying with success. Problem I have the with later RF versions is I use Linux and have since latter 90's but retained a windows version suitable to run the old G2 sim. Now they do not even support XP (32 bit) or earlier anymore so I am SOL.
For me to buy RF8, I would have to buy Windows Vista or later at $100+, buy all the security and utility software required to protect the system and it is just not worth it financially to to do so. Too bad Knifeedge doesn't look into porting to other OS's but I refuse to go back to windows.
I can't say I have but I do not ever mix machines.
Maybe the Devs have and can expound on this a bit... and their plans for *nix.
When the demos load with the interlink connected to a usb port, I get the following error during program initialization:
Error: E_NOTIMPL
File: .\DXControllerG2Interlink.cpp
Line: 97
This is the same error as when the controller is not conncted. When dismissing the error, the demo completes initialization and one can fly the demo models using the keyboard. Demo versions G4,G5 and G6 all act the same.
I have also tried installing Windows in virtualized mode then installing RF but the same issues occur probably becasue in virtualized mode, the software cannot access native devices.
My G2 version will not even load because it is designed for the I-Controller only (no keyboard support). So as I say, I'm out of luck :(.
A demo would really help to find out if it works on Linux via Proton. I won't commit 93 Euros just to find out that it only works on an OS I don't have.
EDIT: Or somebody adding a report to ProtonDB https://www.protondb.com/app/748460 would also make my purchase decision easier.
