How to charge quirk specials?

Whenever i try to hold down the button in the turtorial against Gran Torino, Izuku just does the normal attack.

I would like to know as well, that's not very clear to me.

hold longer.

hold till you glow green then next time you ujse that quirk it will be ULTRA

Ah I see, is there a visible effect that tells us it's stronger than before? I can't tell :/

I've tried both just holding the button, clicking it and then holding right away and even doing the normal attack and then holding. Either I'm blind or doing something really wrong for some reason cause he doesn't wanna glow green for me.

you've to hold the button for the quirk special and you'll see urself glowing up in a green for a short time, that means that you charged your attack.

Thanks for your help, I actually didin't realise you have to get the 1st normal attack through and keep holding after it.
