I think your being a little over emotional, I didn't see an issue with the map, it's pretty amazing if you ask me and I was surprised that they even had the little dots and found them to be very helpful.
I look at it this way if you were actually in the wood searching with a detector you wouldn't be leaving little dots on the ground, it's pretty realistic, if your looking for some one to hold your hand your playing the wrong game. I enjoy the fact they put the time into showing a short history of some of the older items, pretty cool enjoying this.
I've already 100% completed this game, It wasn't difficult but the map still sucked ♥♥♥.
