Thank you very much for your answer! I'd appreciate if you could. I'm actually looking for thrillers with theological elements.

I really recommend you to play Gabriel Knight 3: Blood of the Sacred, Blood of the Damned if you are interested in religion-themed games. True, it's the third part of the series but you don't need to play the first two parts to understand the story. And the story is truly the best part of this game, written by Jane Jansen, famed story author of many of Sierra's adventure games. As for the other elements of the game, this game didn't age quite well, especially in the graphics and animation department, which are truly dated by today's standards. But if you are into a story that revolves around Catholic mysticism then you will easily forget about these shortcomings and enjoy the game's remarkable atmosphere...

Absolutely get Draugen , A beautiful setting, and exellently narrated story by the characters, with some religious themes running through. One of those games that makes you want to move to where it takes place as its such a breathtaking spot ;)

This game's theme is very surreal, layered with satanic and heavenly imagery. Based on this, I can recommend you Dante's Inferno, Bayonetta and Agony.

In Dante's Inferno you, a knight, journey literally through Hell, through each of Hell's twisted circles of sin (Anger, Greed, Lust etc.). It is a hack and slash game, so gameplay wise it's a very different game than Gray Dawn. It is your faith in the Lord and your search for a lost loved one that gives you strength to carry on. And just like in Gray Dawn, Dante's Inferno forces the protagonist to confront his sins throughout the way.

In Bayonetta you're a witch, fighting angelic creatures. It spins the theme completely as the angels are your enemy now and you draw your power from different demonic beings. But the heavenly imagery is so very beautiful in the game, they really nailed the places of Paradiso. And the angelic beings look very different, since they're other dimensional creatures. You could say they went for the Biblically accurate, not the popularized depictions of angels. I will not spoil it too much. But if you want more of the "wow this is such a beautiful heavenly atmosphere" you should pick Bayonetta. Be warned though, the game has lots of comedy and lighthearted moments in it, so if you want a game with a serious attitude like in Gray Dawn, you should pick another game. Though Bayonetta has its serious moments too, don't get me wrong.

Agony I haven't even played yet, but the imagery in Gray Dawn's dark moments reminds me a lot of it. Full of surreal, Hellish imagery. I believe Agony takes place in Hell actually, so there's that. it's a first person game filled with puzzles moments, just like Gray Dawn.

The Beast Inside, Man of Medan, The Council, Call of Cthulhu any of the ones of the Dark Anthology in general (like man of Medan) All of those have a similar Vibe to Gray Dawn, even if they aren't the same.
