how to get past first door?
I've been walking around for a while... just got past the part where the intro credits are playing like its a movie sorta. I came to this door in a cave with lights on it in the shape of symbols. One of the symbols is fixed on the screen in the VR headset if I hold the trigger down on the Xbox Series S/X controller, and it moves as I turn my head. There are other symbols moving around on the door. What am I supposed to do here to proceed?

If you still need help with this: you'll need to find the symbol you see when holding down the trigger, represented in the game world.

Regular objects and patterns, when viewed from a specific angle, will match that symbol. Hold the trigger and overlay the symbol to proceed. See here.

Why did no one answer OP???

Well - I know I'm about 1.5 months late but yeah, Ninja Theory did a pretty damn terrible job of teaching this mechanic. There are videos with hundreds of thousands of views showing this - so you're far from the only one.

Look in the exact opposite direction of the door, go close to the cavern wall that's lit by the sun - and you'll see a symbol on the cavern wall. Focus on it - and bam - door opens. Be prepared for a whole lot of these kinds of "puzzles". Go through the environment from different angles and find a symbol corresponding to the symbol that's needed to get through a door.

If you need help - just hit me up :)

I went into a fire one and kind of walked aroudn at random - there's nothign telling you to line it up with a particular shape. The Y one by hte cricifed men? doesn't triger. I could look up the exact angle on youtube but honestly I'm not sure this game is worth it. its ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ boring man, with tedious, slow ♥♥♥♥ and endless cutscenes that aren't engaging or interesting. The combat of the first helheim door is just thrown at you with no explanation or guidance of what does what and I just randomly hit buttons until something triggered the attack. incredibly disappointed so far, and yeah the fact that OP has to ask for help for the first door shows just how confusing and poorly explained everything is even if you can stay awake through it. For that one I randomly was wandering around and it triggered. the 'screams' arent much help either, just an exercise in frustration
