the dog (pet from doing the portals) has a full inventory too (I use one as a mount for that reason)
Did play Planet Centuri recently and was surprised by the infinite character backpack... clears a lot of unnecessary issues...
if you have chests you essentially have infinite storage, so just give infinite storage
That's still not quite enough in my opinion, and I direct form like pages (like in the mod that's currently broken) would be much better.
I don't want to have to micromanage 3 inventories on the run, tho it is definitely better than nothing.
I also don't want to sacrifice a pet slot for inventory space, when your character moves as slow as molasses.
I have only ever had my inventory full 3 times in 15 hours, and all i needed to do was throw away some crap.
Portals are all over the place - maybe you got a crappy map seed - but I don't have to huff it all the way back to base on my map - there's usually a portal relatively close by.
The 5th Dimension shop, in my game anyway, always has several portal stones for sale - I've yet to run out of them.
Course, to each their own - I simply don't have the issues you describe.
Also there's berries, there's seeds, there's flowers, multiple ore types, monster meat monster skin, there's guns i get from chests, there's bones, there's grass, wood, stone, there's healing items, there's armor i might find on my way out and about.
My point is this game has a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of items that drop WHILE IM AWAY FROM MY BASE AWAY FROM MY WOODEN CHEST, and I want to be able to carry my ♥♥♥♥.
Literally you guys think I'm retarded or something.
I've played minecraft since alpha I know about wooden chests. The thing is, is minecraft has a backpack mod, and terraria has home teleport potions/magic mirror, so storing my ♥♥♥♥ is easy as ♥♥♥♥.
Also, there's so many portals in this game to everywhere and even your own private per-character world that you can access. If you need to get there in one go, set your bed there and use a Rifter Stone. It's not that hard and it's also not expensive.
Yup - inventory management is a big part of games like this. You aren't intended to be able to pick up and carry every single thing you find. Sorry if that makes you angry - but that's how these games usually roll.
It's actually a nuisance that these games don't do inventory management. You may not be able to bring everything with you but not being able to access the things you keep for crafting without needing to think about it is certainly a HUGE PAIN.
All these games do is to give you access to storage. That's it. Terraria can't do inventory management, but Factorio gives you logistic bots and assembly machines and an ever expanding inventory.
Rimworld has workbench bills but fails on actually storing the things and even punishes storing things -_-
Even Valheim falls into the trap of just giving you storage, but at least they have a much slimmer list of items.
If I can just throw everything into boxes and at least be able to craft from them if they're nearby then I'll consider it done and covered. Or do item portal totems. Or make the pets/replicas do some hauling work.
Who wants to carry around mud, stone, grass, flowers, ect all the time?
If you don't, well you have to keep opening your inventory to trash them because ever little action floods your inventory with items you don't want.
So yeah, if you had more spots so that these items didn't take up space you actually need that would be great imo. Or if you could have a setting NOT to pick up certain items.
Oh and a +1 to stations being able to work from chests!!
I cannot get behind unlimited player inventory in survival rpg games though - it undermines the general point of the genre.
You can also buy runestones from Schlip's lab for dirt cheap or kill these weird bandit guys that run away to get them, and they will almost insta TP you to your base location. I keep like 10 of em at all times in case i don't feel like going all the way back to a portal or my lift.
Can you read? Its literally in 1st answer.
1 as mount 1 as pet = 2 additional inventories.
