Aiming is awful with a game controller
This is a shooter game and the aiming with a controller sucks! The right analog should be used for aiming, instead its used for... NOTHING. The aiming is with the movement together (you move with the left analog and aim at the same time).
The game itself tells you that the best experience is with a gamepad, which is not as described, but plays MUCH better with keyboard and mouse. I use a wireless XBox One controller.
PLEASE FIX THE CONTROLLER AIMING!

i absolutely disagree. it play really bad for me on keyboard and mouse and really well on gamepad , IF the game would actually not disconnect the pad for whatever reason. but the controls for pad are just fine, although i would have nothing against aiming with the right stick. wouldn't use it, but wouldn't hurt

Idk, from what I've played so far the game definitely feels like it's meant to be played as a game where you're aiming OR moving. It's a very mecha feel to boost around and then freeze in the air to take your shot.

I think the reason M&K an in some ways feel better is kind of because in designing it they had to let you 'cheat.' Aiming with WASD would obviously be unacceptable, so mouse aiming is really the only plausible solution. But then how do you make a setup that makes you stop to shoot that wouldn't just piss everybody off.

So cleary M&K is the 'superior' version, as in it gives you special advantages you don't otherwise have and is almost certainly going to be the option you pick in MP if you really want to win, but I don't feel like from what I've played the game was intended to give you those advantages. It's just an option they had no choice but to give you if they didn't feel like they could realistically get sales as a controller only game on steam.

hold R trigger to aim without moving, game mentions you are able to do this early in the game, but its an easy mechanic to forget if your like me and often shoot on the move

I agree. I'm still surprised there isn't a dual-stick control scheme. Controller input should be rebind-able too.

stop your nonsense, nobody forgets about that crap
the aiming mechanic just sucks, let's see how you survive while holding R aiming and shoot against 40+ bullets from the enemies

Yeah, twinstick control is probably getting patched in like in Astebreed.

Scuse me? What's wrong with moving with WASD and aiming via keyboard?

As for my two cents, I was terrified of the idea of moving and aiming with the same stick, but honestly it doesn't feel too bad to me. I would prefer to aim via the second stick, don't get me wrong, but considering that you spend a lot of time boosting around and shooting in mid-air, I find it relatively easy to boost, and then aim while momentum carries the mech.

Playing on controller is like playing classic platformer, you can only shoot forward but sometimes you'll miss the enemies straight ahead if you do a forward jump +shoot instead of jump+shoot.

Well... in a game where they encourage you to shoot and boost, and not being able to move backwards while shooting is WRONG. If that was also on the keyboard controls, that would mean it was meant to be played like that, but in K&M you can aim move and shoot in every direction.
Needs to be patched.

Having movement and aiming on the same joystick is just uncomfortable, and kind of ruins the fun. It's like driving a car without any legs, constantly switching between the pedals and the wheel when you need to do something. We have two joysticks specifically to avoid this ffs.

easy fix just remap the controller to keyboard like i did , antimacro and set the mouse type to spring and your good just a bit of a faf is all for true twin stick action
Aerolight Jun 27, 2019 @ 11:13am
lul its even easyer than that steam in big picture allows controller-keyboard remaping natively via controller settings which is also game spesific - look under manage game for 3x faster
Broadsword Jun 27, 2019 @ 2:44pm
The game needs twin stick controls IMHO but I haven't played any PvP yet.

Agree here, not being able to block or attack unless im moving that way is really killing an otherwise impressive game.

The layout in general is quite bad.
boma Jun 27, 2019 @ 5:42pm
so there is no moving back while shooting front on gamepad? only on keyboard and mouse?
