Why so much ice skating?

Over the past 20 years, I've barely ever heard a player mentioning ice skating in pokemon in a positive fashion ; Was the only weirdo within my friends to find them fun.

So why the hell are there so many in Temtem? It seems that every island has its section.
And while I liked Pokemons' ice skating puzzles, in Temtem they're not puzzles, just obnoxious "try everything until it works out": You can rarely see what comes next (e.g ridiculous zoom level), there's little choice involved, always forced in a couple of directions maximum and usually immediately run in a dead end if picking the wrong one...

The 3rd dojo perfectly exemplifies the failure of ice skating in Temtem, being as unchallenging and boring as aforementioned, except in a way-too-large area with an unimaginative resolution (just a series of bumpers pushing you to the end, without any puzzle or decision involved)

In short, ice skating sections in Pokemon gen 1 were better designed, congrats.

Can't you use the map to plot it out in most cases?
