Is this game worth it?

I only see like 3k people playing at most. The content creators for this game barely get views so I feel like this game wont last for that long... Is it still enjoyable for new players?

I do not care about the story.

Enjoyable for new players?: Play and find out, if you don't like it then ask for you're money back
Game wont last for that long: The game still has over 4k players and the 1.0 update just come out so it seems fine atm.

game is cross platform with the switch version so more players than you think. Game is still enjoyable for new players. There are no "P2W" Elements in the game.

Content creators not having views means that the playerbase will diminish within a few months. It's a sign of how well the game does. 4k players is so little sadly. Well, will wait for a sale i guess.

as Doshka pointed out the game is crossplatform so the Steam numbers doesnt really give a accurate statement on the playerbase :)

and as it being enjoyable for new players Yes it can be and it also depents what is your goal for the game? just play it for the fun of it and do some casual stuff? or be a hardcore player that goes deep into the competetive scene?

as for Twitch viewerbase yes its low but so is Pokemon.. these Creature capture games tent to "die" out over time till something new comes up. Take a look at Pokemon Sword and Shield when it came out it had over 100K viewers but as time went on it dropped pretty hard and now its barely reaching the 2K mark.

I am pretty sure once they release a new content patch the game viewership will shoot up and then die down again :) its just how these type of games work on a platform like Twitch/Youtube. Same thing will happen for Pokemon once Scarlet and Violet comes out those games will have a big viewership the for the 1st few weeks but after that it will drop drasticly

The steam numbers are not all of the players of this game (it's cross platform with all my main consoles). The popularity of the game will be fine for years to come.

the game is fine to get into, really a good experience. But the game will "die" in 1 month or so, new pokemon is coming out and, well you know what it will do to this one. But you can still enjoy this as it is a fun game.

thats just steam players you can turn on a setting that shows PS players XBOX players and switch players... there are easily twice as many people not playing on computers.

Aside from luma collecting I don't see how that really matters. It's not like you can pump infinite TVs onto a tem.
By the time you get to Kisiwa you have access to multiple shrines and TV spots. You can easily bring a tem to level 100 with max TVs in an hour or two.

Not to mention perfect tems sell at a huge discount at the auction house. So if anything the people who have been at it for 2.5 years have only made it easier for you to catch up.

Awesome game, like the person above me said: You are not 2.5 years behind, I started on launch and have almost a full team of perfect tem for pvp. The only advantage they have is they've collected and leveled way more tem than me.

Boundless has just got 1 viewer for years now and it still haven't went down... Even Runescape has just low as 966 viewers total and it is one of most populated MMOs in these days.

I don't find it to be worth it regarding the circumstances. 45 $ game, battlepass, microtransactions store, no intent of future expansions of the game just some updates for replayability. Player count dropped since launch to 1/3 and the general playerbase in the early access was 1k players. Its effectively a singleplayer with some multiplayer elements. So I would say this is actually not worth to buy at all.

Next major update will introduce a pokemon showdown style teambuilder for use with ranked, so it will be super accessible to everybody. Grinding and breeding good tems will still be helpful for PvE content, though.

most people just play the story and leave. All microtransactions are 100% cosmetic and optional.

And the devs aren't hard-set on no new islands or temtem, but with their current dev team size it would be very ineffecient to devote a ton of time to a new island. Unless you're content with waiting half a year without any updates for one new island like during early access.

And not to mention the less than half-finished, $90 mess pokemon put out last generation.
