Battles are all double battles, making it more strategic and making it possible to play coop.
There's housing planned in the game and even dojos run by players eventually.
And probably more to come.
There's another monster catcher game coming out this year called coromon which is having a good go at doing something new, I'm not sure this game looks as innovative as that atm.
And Pokemon revolution can be in beta forever, as long as it's playable I'd rather play the free game than the £27.99 game that isn't finished yet that relatively does the same thing.
Also if there's nothing behind a paywall, how long do you think this game will be supported once they've got your cash? I know nothing about this company.
Then, the 161 temtem is to be expected for a new game, and sword and shield didn't even have 100 new pokemon, and I'd say the actual number of pokemon is starting to be a problem since it's time that could be used to improve the game instead (which is now very stale) and they can't even put all the pokemon in a single game anymore anyway.
Not to mention you can't ask for a specific trade... Atleast I've never figured it out, just kinda pot luck with who you trade with having the poke you want
Gameplay-wise the whole combat system is different from Pokemon's, yes there are status effects and yes there's super/not very effective moves but from what I've heard there's no RNG element to it (chance based status effects, crits, etc), a stamina system instead of Pokemon's traditional PP system (which is such an outdated system knowing most people will mainly spam one move because it has enough PP, often rendering a bunch of moves useless), Temtem are more sustainable than pokemon meaning the whole fight isn't just a one shot-fest of super effective hits, and combats are 2v2 which allows for more strategic planning with moves. Additionally, you can play the whole game through with a friend co-op! This hasn't been done in a Pokemon game before and I think this is a huge positive to add.
The game even has side quests for you to do which is always nice!
There's so much to talk about in Temtem being compared with Pokemon, but honestly this would be a much longer reply if I were to talk about the whole game's differences to Pokemon, but I'll keep this short since the main point you've mentioned is how the game has the same gameplay somehow.
