Still with random unexplained bans?
I keep checking back on this game to see if the issue of random bans with no explanation are actually being handled or addressed in anyway positively by the developers, but the first thing I see already as soon as i scroll down is this

"Banned for "cheating" because my friend helped me in co-op speed past a few battles and traded me a higher tem I couldn't even use until I lvl'd up more.

Whats the point of having a co-op MMO if friends can't even help each other? Tried to talk to a developer about the issue and ask exactly what the problem was, since my friend didn't get banned only me, basically told me that they didn't care, they were 100% in their decision and to not contact them again. WOW. Thanks for wasting my money."

What is the deal? There is clearly something you're not explaining to players and apparently unfairly labeling them as cheaters if something as benign as being traded a higher level monster warrants a ban. Clarify your rules, and treat your players with more respect. I'll pick up the game when the developers finally resolve this ongoing issue.

And you know this how? Are you a dev? Do you know what their anti-cheat software looks like or how it operates? There's no damn way everyone who has ever left a negative review stating "unexplained ban, i didn't cheat" was a cheater. There are not that many people interested in hacking a monster collecting game, to claim so is absurd.

I don't understand if you're quoting another post or if you're saying the exact same thing happened to you, but what I know is there's no system to ban you because you traded with someone, and there is no system to ban you because you're going through story too fast.

I tried it myself. Traded 70k to a friend and half of my owned temtem, neither of us are banned.

I'm quoting the most recent negative review in the steam store page, i passed on this game back when it first released because a good friend of mine who has never cheated on a single game in his life got banned out of nowhere after spending a lot of time enjoying it. You clearly don't know the system in place or how the company behind it operates, my question is for the devs themselves, not some outsider who doesn't have any know-how about the behind the scenes operation.

I see these kind of threads on literally every online game... Maybe rarely there is a ban issued mistakenly but most likely they are making it up or coming to their own conclusions...

Take what you've said on this thread for example. HOW do these people know they were banned for playing co-op? The answer is they don't, they have no way of knowing. So I don't really understand why you take that at face value.

Well a friend I thought would never cheat in a game once stole from my account in another MMO, so you can never be sure they'll never cheat.

Also devs have already answered this question several time and the answer is always the same. Tl.dr They review the bans and make sure they are legit. They don't give evidence so that cheaters don't learn how to go around it

Edit. Also I just checked the comment in question. How does he know that's the reason he got banned if he played over 40 hours? What he speaks of could only have happened during the first hours in the game. I feel like he's not being honest

I know my friend very well and i've played countless hours of other online games with them, they're a 14 year and still going player on WoW, and have played the Pokemon titles since Red. I know my friend very well because i've known him since we were children. My friend isn't some rando i met in a game lobby, i KNOW them. You do not know what this companies verification process even looks like exactly for the reasons you stated, they don't tell anyone why they were banned in the first place.

I'm not at all interested in the speculation of outsiders on this topic, this question is for the devs and the devs only. You don't have to agree or believe anything I've said but quite frankly I don't care if you do. My point in making this post is to ask the devs to clarify what is happening behind the scenes so I don't buy the game and manage to get myself banned accidentally because of something as stupid as discord overlay triggering a false positive. I'm not a cheater, I have no interest in playing games that way, I literally just want to enjoy a simple monster collecting game and not risk undue punishment.

You are wrong. I spent my life playing games and in every game players are cheating and yes a lot of players. More than the common person thinks.

Every year it has become easier and easier for players to cheat at games unless the developers have a good anti-cheat system and successful ban them.

You know what most cheaters do when they get caught? They get another account and try to do it again without being caught.

While doing this they make posts an awful lot like yours claiming they were falsely banned. Especially the ones that actually paid for cheat software to cheat at the game. Those players are the most angry because they paid for it and then got caught so they lash out saying they were innocent "bla bla bla"

The bottom line is US PLAYERS THAT DON'T CHEAT look at them and know they cheated and they just MAD :steamhappy:

Have you even looked at pokemon's online scene? Some people make their living pulling apart the games, hacking, and selling hacked mons.

Plus, you don't even own the game. Who are you to be judging stuff that goes on anyway? The devs have addressed all of this ages ago. There's nothing stopping people from lying and leaving a bad review.

Everyone in this thread has the right to their own opinion but from someone who has had this game on their wishlist for over a year at this point this is what's keeping me from buying it. Not only is there really no way for me to tell whats going on as there's is no concrete info. But if I were to get this game and get banned for some reason, NOBODY would believe me and everyone would just think i'm some hacker piece of ♥♥♥♥. No matter what anyone says until the devs clear this up with like a reason you can get banned list or something, this game is a gamble, and 40$ is too much for a gamble that's also in Early Access. There simply just needs to be a list of reasons you can get banned, and a community manager that can talk to people about it or something. Because they say they don't give reasons for bans to keep hackers out of the loop or something but literally no other game does that it makes no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sense, especially when the things you can get banned for are zero tolerance. Idk I just know that they are at least losing two sales from me I can't be the only one.

They did:

In particular:
But we also know many of you legit players are starting to develop a fear of getting unfairly banned, and are refraining from doing certain actions in-game, so we'd like to make some points clear: no, your account is not at risk for playing an ungodly amount of hours (although your health might be), nor is it at risk for playing with a gamepad, trading with your friends, or earning a special tem on a giveaway or a contest.

Having multiple accounts and playing in a legit way in every one of them is OK as well.

Are you afraid of having unknowingly traded with someone who was a cheater, and getting banned because of that? Please fear not: if that was the case the whole player-base would be banned. From our point of view it's fairly easy to tell whether something was an accident or intentional. We can see through many tricks, and we are still trying to improve, and to make the system as flawless as possible, so please, please don't worry about playing normally and enjoying Temtem.

OK thank you! They just need to post this on the damn store page because literally every time I've checked in the last year, the top review has always been "oh I got banned for no reason." which is not normal, I haven't seen that problem constantly at the top of a review page for a game ever out of the 100+ something games I have on here. This would almost completely stop this kind of thread happening if they just posted that on the top of their storepage or something christ.

First big ban wave was for people using a small patch of grass to glitch into an upper path and get access to a creature that was not supposed to be accessible yet and then trying to sell said creature either for big money ingame or irl money. Other people also got banned for trying to sell the early luma catches or perfect SV creatures for real money which is expressly forbidden. Later on people got banned for using an exploit to get a lot of money ingame. Every time this happened you'd see people come into the forum or write negative reviews about how they got banned for no reason or even worse lying that they got banned for playing the game too long or playing in co-op.

Look at any online game and you will see plenty of people complaining that they got banned unfairly. The only thing i think Crema is doing wrong is the fact that they seem to outright permaban. They should, imho, do what any MMO does and on the first offence delete the thing you cheated to get and give you a temporary ban. Perm should only happen for repeated offences. At the same time that would require them hiring a proper team of GMs to look at every case and take appropriate measures, which they may or may not be something they're willing to do while still in early access. Long term tho this needs to change.
