Nothing Crema has done would set off some massive pissed off gamer exodus, and I certainly haven't seen anything crop up. This is just normal drop in player base after current content completion. Theres no real end game to keep people playing yet.
if not this game will die like all the others.
While the current system does support a potential battle tower or something equivelant it doesn't seem like any sort of group would be "possible" in the current system. I say possible in quotes because it's certainly possible to have 5 temtem out on the field but it really doesn't seem like it would result in any sort of engaging or deep group combat system. Cooperative content seems more feasible but unless its mandetory you might as well go solo for all intents and purposes.
So what is an optimal type of loop for a game like this? would it be entirely single player driven?
More like whats your point so you seem to be missing the basic IMPORTANT concept here...
This is NOT a single player RPG
This is suppose to be a MMORPG. A never ending sandbox of tons of people. So if Skyrim losses tons of people after its first week is NO BIG DEAL
But if World of Warcraft lost tons of people after its first week it would be A HUGE DEAL...
Because there two very different genre's of games and MMORPG'S are people dependant....
With that being said why is this MMORPG shedding players like a hot potato!!!
Well that's a very easy thing to answer! It has NO MMORPG content at the moment!
Nothing resets the trainers, there is no way to replay the story without reseting your character, there is no viable way to continuously earn money once to play thru the story the tamers don't reset. There is No Chat to facilitate the economy, there is no Player Vendors to facilitate the economy, there is no Auction House to facilitate the economy!
This game should have Many chat channels.
1 for your guild
1 for your global
1 for Trading TemTem
This game should reset its Tamers every 7-14 days
This game should reset the story every 7-14 days
This game should reset the Loot box's on the ground every 7-14 days
This game should be a grind <---- More so then it is now!
This game should be harder to get Shiny's <---- More so then it is now!
There should be a PvP tournament with Ranking Board
There should be a PvE Ranking board to show who has the most Shiny's
There should be a PvE Ranking board to see who has Bred the Most Temtem.
There should be a way to link the stats of your Temtem in chat so you can show off your Perfect (Insert Temtem Type)
There should be Special Super Boss's in the world not tied to the story line you fight to get a cool gear reward and they too should reset every 7-14 days!
And this is just the tip of the iceberg; all these things can already be found in Pokemon Revolution Online a Free to Play MMORPG. That is light years ahead of TemTem at the moment (Yes its early access) and we hopefully will see these things implemented.
Should that ever be a design goal for any game regardless of it's genre?
Sure you'd want to have long term content but that should ideally be content that's fun and engaging in it's own right and not tedium to pad things out for the sake of player retention rates.
If the prices were lower, people would have top tier Temtem long before the next update. That doesn't make for a very fun game overall, if the elite are well established because of easy breeding.
People, gamers in particular have this strange habit of pointing out the obvious before it happens, so when the obvious eventually happens they can can say "I told you so".
Grind is fun its the entire point of Temtem / Pokemon
Why do you run around for hours on end? To collect them all! If you could do that in 8 hours to find a single rare TemTem it would lack any reward, but if it took you 800 hours then you could proudly Link it in Chat and show off you got a (Insert Rare TemTem)
What other Point is there to a TemTem MMORPG??? That is the largest PvE goal to collect them all and that should ALWAYS be a Grind of Giant proportions!!! Or the game will lose its appeal FAST....
Are you sure that you want pokemon like mmo game ? Sounds like you want World of Warcraft or The Elder Scrolls Online.
PS: And we already have the way to constantly make money
what he want is Pokemon MMORPG not temtem. thats it
Again this Pokemon MMORPG already exists (Pokemon Revolution Online) <--- Free to Play
Has all of these features! And Real Pokemon not Fakes....
If Temtem is going to succeed it needs to atleast do as good as the current free to play option in the market??? Is that so hard to understand??? Why should I play a Feature Missing 35 dollar game when I can play the real thing for free???
However if its billing itself as an MMORPG then it needs to actually be one and actually have said content....
Could very easily say the same to you.
You are "missing the basic IMPORTANT concept here..." this game is in Early Access.
Your whole post is basically "I want it! I want it all now!" like a screaming toddler.
What exactly do you think the developers are doing? Sitting with their thumbs up their butts? We're talking about a team with barely over a dozen employees trying quite an ambitious project. Maybe too ambitious, but I'm not going to argue that point right now. Cut them some freakin' slack. It takes time to release all of this content.
The game isn't somehow going to magically die overnight before the developers have a chance to implement all of the designs and features they want.
Most players are taking a break because they have done what they wanted to do, or are even just slowing down so they do avoid burning themselves out before there is new content.
You are entirely over-exaggerating. There are still tens of thousands of players playing this game every day on Steam alone, nevertheless through Discord and Humble Bundle. All of that while the game is still in relative infancy, and with more content on the way.
