Why is the word "pig" banned?
Tried naming my pig: "pig" and it said that it was a bad word. I know you wonna filter slurs and all but this is club penguin levels of filtering.

I was actually trying to find a solid answer to this despite all the speculation. I did initially find a comment out in the wilds of the interwebs that claimed the potential religious reasons are true and apparently some Muslim gamers complained that the word would be used to insult them. I was however unable to find this again, or any actual proof that this was true.

Another message I cannot find was simply saying that the devs claimed when asked that the word was filtered because "pig" is more often used to insult someone by saying "a girl looks like a pig" or calling a group of people you doing like "pigs" that it was filtered due to a believe that 99% of the time it would be used this way as opposed to talking about pigs. The person claiming to have found this out (unverifiable) claimed the dev they spoke to said it was banned from the beginning and the fact that it took so long for people to discover makes the point that it's not something likely to come up in casual conversation.

Allegedly the word "trap" is one they want to put into the filter (but is not supposed to be there yet) but they haven't so far as they believe it has too many legitimate gameplay usages.

Also if you want to find what many consider the most offensively horrible creature from a creature collector game look up "Mara" from the "Shin Megami Tensei" series. It will be obvious why... not sure why so many people are discussing potentially offensive creatures, but well, there you go that one is my personal champion for "WTF factor". I don't think any other creature in a game of this sort has outdone it... and that's saying something given how deliberately freaky SMT has tried to get over the years.

I hit this. I wanted to name my Blooze "Stinky" and thats not allowed. Kind of funny the NPCs will say swear words but Stinky is too far lol.

No seriously they're just doing this... to be children friendly I guess (but yes some npc are swearing so wtf)

I get being child friendly in a game like this but banning "pig" and "stinky"? What child would not be able to say or hear those words on the cartoons they watch.

I get being child friendly in a game like this but banning "pig" and "stinky"? What child would not be able to say or hear those words on the cartoons they watch.

Especially considering the popularity of Peppa ***.

could be worse... I couldn't name my horse Buttstallion on red dead redemption 2 (online and singleplayer).

I wanna meet the people who decide these words being filtered and ask who hurt them growing up...

or practical. We can't use numbers, so I can't keep track of temtem I catch by their SVs.

If I could, I'd be nicknaming them things like "50 SPD", "50 ATK" etc. Or "Tier 2 A" and "Tier 3 B" when breeding.

(On that note, got one half of a perfect Magmis now. Took me a few days.)

I had cocobird blocked. I just opt to name things bannedword1, 2,3 etc.

ll Abrahamic religions (Jews, Christians and Muslims) had a ban on this, not just muslims, infact Jews don't eat it either and they are the first in this branch (islam being the newest) They all believe in the same god as well.. But you can be certain it has nothing to do with religion at all, but rather just a silly silly silly "don't offend" culture here.

Words and expressions have been taken hostage and changed for a long time now

I find it hillarius, even more so because one of the devs like to showcase something else, they also made a FPS that does not have this issues.. On their site it says

They are primarily a "mobile" games development studio, its also easy to spot that most likely you have all these words banned becuase they went the "make pokemon clone with new animals" for the teen segment, the game might become very toxic due to the young avarage age of users, albeit again.. I think its funny they "ban" censor words that seem harmless..

Did you see that animal that looked like a *** I tried to ***** it into my ****
