What mechanics does this game have that are unique to Temtem and not taken from Pokemon?
https://www.ign.com/articles/temtem-hands-on-how-it-is-and-isnt-like-pokemon
the game is labeled as early access and ur ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and whining about it being early access
Sounds like those people might not actually know much about Pokemon.
And Pokemon "copied" all those from other JRPGs.
Surfing=boats/airships
TM/HM=scrolls/books
Pokecenter=inn
Pokeball=bait/trap
The only thing that's really original about the series is how they spun it, you fight from the monster's perspective rather than the protagonist's.
That's the problem with the whole "x copied y" argument, video games are a derivative medium, everything takes inspiration or "copies" from another. So are movies, anime, and even comedy. Its not a bad thing, just the opposite that's literally why public domain exists, but people tend to make it out like every derived work is like a counterfeit Rolex.
And of course with the state copyright is in its neigh impossible for modern creations to reach public domain anymore, leaving copycat games as the only alternative for playing with these ideas.
If you explore temtem and pay close attention you'd see MANY differences between this and pokemon.
Off the top o my head ;
- The ability to change skills at will out of combat.
- Certain skills combo'ing off of the partner temtem in battle
- The ability to pick which stats get given to the bred temtem.
- All battles are 2v2
- There's a mana system instead of a PP system
- Certain skills have 1 or 2 or even 3 turn cooldowns.
- Certain skills have the ability to reduce active skill cooldowns
- Certain skills have the ability to regen a temtems mana
- You CAN be under more than 1 status at a time
Overall temtem has made huge changes to pokemons combat system as well as the level of difficulty and requires a higher level of thinking than pokemon does. Temtem is not a pokemon rip off or a clone in any way. It's it's own game in it's own right. You just need to get farther into the game to notice all the differences between the 2 games.
Hope this cleared up any misunderstandings about this being very similar to pokemon.
but i guess thats just wishful thinking.
Add on that private profile just too make it even less subtle ; P
