It'd be nice just to be able to buy any 1 item after the gym, cause atm I look like everyone else and customization would be a great reward.
If you look at pokemon prices for cosmetics don't make sense either.
Once story mode is completed you're going to make a lot more money.
Not to mention every shop has one or two item that cost 3k or less.
I don't understand the logic behind the pricing and until it changes or they've explained why, it's going to be a wasted feature.
I was coming to the forums to see if anyone else had asked the question about these prices, and was hoping someone would say you start earning millions later on; but it looks like players who are catching much, much higher-level temtem than me are also feeling that these prices are out of their league, so at this point I'm really not motivated. I didn't get to play in the alpha, but I've seen the alpha prices of items on the official wiki and I hope they revert to those.
Sure they should be. It shows you they exist, gives you their value, and thus a goal to work for at the beginning. It's like having really high-end weapons at the start of a JRPG that you can't possibly afford.
Plus, let's be real; when the game is complete, Cosmetics will be what drive the economy. It makes sense, therefore, that cosmetic items require a lot of time and effort to earn. Every MMO needs an economy to keep it afloat unless they're able to secure many, many expansion sales. That typically comes in the form of MTX buying cash or cosmetics rather than grinding them up.
Take Spiral Knights as an example. I could spend IRL money on the Energy to buy a bunch of cosmetics, or I could spend significantly longer earning up the in-game currency to purchase it.
The real issue comes down to how it is managed, of course.
