How do you get previous games?

Where do you get Touhou games? I have looked around online and for such a seemingly popular franchise, I can't find anything about how to get these games. They're not all on Steam and the only things I found were some strange obscure sites with downloads, but since in my country you cannot download torrents, I am hesitant to download them, consdering the file format isn't listed.

The best site to download them is this website https://moriyashrine.org/files/ in archived .zip file format. The problem is that most of these games were available to buy only during few days on comikets in Japan. For example the most well known part of Touhou, Embodiment of scarlet devil, was available for sale on Comiket back in 2002. If I remember correctly old games are not available on steam because the creator of these games has lost the sourse code of most of his early games so he can not add them to Steam for sale.

However you can buy some of previous games on steam - 13th, 14th and 15th parts. And also the newest one, number 17.

Also the creator of Touhou allows people to freely use his Touhou universe in their own games/music etc and earn money from it, so there are a lot of fan games on Steam, you can find them by tag Faith. I can recommend Touhou Luna Nights, it is a really great fan-gamfan-game in metroidvania genre and it is based on 6th part of Touhou.

I know about Luna Nights, but I like Bullet Hell games and would like to expand my knowledge of them. Is https://moriyashrine.org/files/ safe?

Yes, I am absolutely sure that it is. I downloaded all previous games from this website and I did not get any viruses and I think that most of touhou fans downloaded previous games from there too.

Oh, also you can buy CDs from resellers on amazon or ebay but take into account that each CD will have a price about 20-40 dollars depending on how old a CD is (therefore Embodiment of Scarlet Devil are the most expensive ones). But this way is more suitable if you are such a big fan (and you have a lot of money) that you want to have physical copy of each game, otherwise it is easier to download them online.

well since the series is too old that some of them are 10+ years old like the Embodiment of Scarlet Devil is 18 years ago so the previous ones may not even have a digital version. Sad to hear torrents are out right banned in a country as the most circulated item by torrent is the King James Bible. There are many other legitimate uses for torrents but other countries so well yeah.
