why is this so hard ?

i played Touhou 8 on hard , but this game reks me on easy

Touhou 8 is probably one of the easiest in all the series by a noticable margin.

16 is probably somewhere in the middle for difficulty I suppose? Just keep practicing and you'll probably get used to it in no time.

Try out 12 or 15 sometime and you will notice the spike in difficulty compared to some of the other games.

i didnt try some of the newer games because of things like the 2 screen thing or other new features that confused me , but thanks i will play a few other games

They all vary from game to game, one will be extremely hard then the next will be extremely easy (I'm looking at you 12 and 13), and others anywhere inbetween, then there's 15 which is sort-of-a-meme-but-not-really where Normal can be harder than Lunatic in several parts.

ZUN has made a fantastic series and all of the PC era games are great in their own way, but he sure needs to work on his consistancy lol (don't tell anyone I said that though), 16 feels like a happy medium between all the other games for me at least.

i see people talk about 6 (EoSD) alot , should i play it ?

I would at least try 6 and up, but the games have improved quit a bit since 10 and on.

It might be because of how bullets blend with background and therefore hurts your eyes quite a bit, but as said above, th8 is probably the easiest touhou game there is.

I get destroyed by Touhou 8 (normal), but beat 16 (normal). Huh.

As for a starting point for Touhou games, I'd recommend 14, it seemed to be the easiest of the bunch to me (played sakuya a of course).

You don't have to play any other game though because 16 is also a good starting game (IMO).
I think you will eventually get the hang of 16's mechanics and learn the game, just keep at it. Have you tried Cirno with the summer seasonal? This combo was how I first beat the game on normal.

I think you will eventually get the hang of 16's mechanics and learn the game, just keep at it. Have you tried Cirno with the summer seasonal? This combo was how I first beat the game on normal.

I'd say best starting point is 7 because of it's amazing OST (I dare you to prove me wrong), simple (yet pretty deep) mechanics and adequate challenge.

there are some 2hu games where even easy mode is a little harder than normal or hard
and yes someone/people already mentioned that TH8 is one of the easiest games in the series

Touhou 8 being the easiest is way overblown. It has a ridiculously low bar easy mode and a very newbie-friendly mechanic but normal and hard are around mid-range in difficulty. I suppose this is a late reply but if you're struggling with this game, it may be because of the seasonal mechanic + season items, which messed with me a lot when I was first learning it.

I'd recommend planning out where to use your releases for a decent amount of Point Item Value gain so you can get a comfortable amount of extends, instead of just using them like a bomb. Reimu + Winter is also definitely the easiest shot combo for the game. As for getting used to pressing C and the seasonal items, that's just practice

i didnt even find hard mode in 8 difficult besides Marisa and reisen

This is touhou. it is a Japanese bullet hell made by our lord and savior zun. This ♥♥♥♥ requires alot of skill espically on the higher difficulties (that is why I only play on easy modo )

but i played 8 on hard in the past thats why i was surprised easy was too hard in this one
