Mouse not able to fly correctly
So starting out I do have a vr headset but currently it isn't charged up and wanted to see it on monitor mode. So I was able to talk off and do basic rudder controls. That got me through tutorial one but tutorial 2 absolutely seemed unworkable. Maybe I am doing something wrong but the mouse would not bank to the left or right without a lot of delay, and at one point the only way I could get it to dive or climb was by going the opposite direction and then quickly inverting it, but that only did small increments so I wasn't able to dive or climb and within about a minute crashed into the water. Is there some setting I am missing for monitor mode for mouse flight since everything in the input section seemed to be related to controllers?

I will look into it, and see if I can replicate your issue.

I tested the game with mouse and it works fine for me. I suspect maybe your mouse-sensitivity is really low? Can you adjust it? You can raise the input-sensitivity in the game to max under SETTINGS/ADVANCED, that can help a bit, but I suspect you fundamentally need to increase the sensitivity-setting of your mouse to get it to where you want it. If you press CTRL you will look down at instrumentation, you should also see the in-game joystick moving significantly (i.e. about 15 degrees or so) when you move the mouse.

So helps to be able to see the flight stick. That gives me a better way to explain it. I ramped up the sensitivity to max and no change. What I am seeing is that I move the mouse and the flight stick does respond that direction for maybe a half second or so and then returns back to the center, so every movement I do of the mouse is fighting to move the flight stick from the center. Even long strokes of the mouse typically aren't enough to hold it in place since it has already made it back to the neutral position.

So that is actually by-design. The reason being that if it does not slowly go back to neutral, it is Very hard to fly level in my experience. If you know a mouse-controlled flying game that solves it better, I would be interested. It will react for longer if you pull the mouse longer or faster, as it stores the excess movement and does not go back to center until that excess has been discounted over a period of time. If you go from positive to negative movement, you will immediately reset the excess. This was needed for times when you are fine-tuning your aim. It's a balance between not having to continously puill mouse (which I think you have to do in most flying games? and remembering excess was one way to improve that over e.g. Battlefield), and on the other hand not leaving the player wobbling up and down as they try to find that level that makes them fly level.

My problem is it is not a slow process of going back to neutral but within less than a second no matter what my movement is. I didn't get a sense that even with excessive movements it delayed it. I will say I come from more the FSX version of flying where the mouse was used as the yoke but there wasn't a force back to neutral or even in xplane (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SZUs4uLWwAc) where the yoke direction is kept inside of the box. Stepping away from simulators, even in a lot of arcade-type games I don't see instinctively if someone moves the mouse to the right and lets go, that it would stop the banking. The feeling would be holding the yoke hard over to the right. In this case, I don't see a way to do that for tight movements for those more acrobatic movements.

So uploaded a video capture of my problem with my mouse: https://youtu.be/7oVXs7nkaC4 A couple of things that might help or not. I started with the settings, and if you are on the higher resolution you can see that the mouse itself is vibrating over the settings tabs. I wasn't moving the mouse at that point at all. It also did it when I moved it over to the training tab. I don't know if this would affect your mouse movement detection or not. Then ignore the camera part I was having some other issues. But when it settled on the yoke I was moving it in broad strokes and then at the end started doing circles and as you can see the yoke fights me the whole time so I can't do precise movements.

Ok, I think I might see what is going on. It's a trick of the trade to have the input gravitate towards the vertical and horizontal axes for joystick-users, it's done in many AAA console-games. But I suspect that is also happing with mouse-input, which is not needed I think. I can look at removing that for mouse-input if I can. In the meantime, have you tried the game in VR with a gamepad, VR-controller, or a joystick yet? It's a bit finnicky, but in Advanced you CAN setup a HOTAS, throttle, pedals or whatever you have. There is a HELP button on left-most menu, follow that to help-section about joysticks if you want to set it up.

About the X-plane video, I can see how having that visual aid would help you a lot when trying to fly level. Note that the video is not exactly a fighter-jet in combat, but if that UI is smack in the middle around the aim-reticule, it could work, I will see if I can test that!

I haven't yet had a chance as I don't get to sit down and spend time in VR like I used to (no thanks to work) but it is on my to-do list next time I get some free time I will let you know. My guess is what I have seen is that it might work and I am looking forward to it. For the x-plane no that was if I remember correctly a 737 so no quite the speed and agility of a fighter planer, but the same ui still is applied even for tomcats and other high-speed aircraft addons and while most people typically use joysticks I have enjoyed having the mouse like that as it gives a lot more versatility when I don't have the time or space to pull out a joystick.
