Hi! so my support is ending this december, will there be an special offer for those who purchased the perpetual version of the substance suite almost a year ago?

How much would it cost me to pay another 12 months of support? :D

If you bought SP2018 during the year, say June 21st, 2018. Your license is valid until June 20th, 2019 HOWEVER, your "Steam" version will stop updating on 31 December, 2018. Everybody who bought on Steam during the year version will do the same. Go to the Allegorithmic website, open an account if you haven't already done so, LINK your steam account to the Allegorithmic account.

You can download the stand alone version of your product up to the version when your license expires (20th of June 2019 if you follow the example) and use that instead of the Steam Version that hasn't updated after the 31st of December.

Also see this to understand how and why the Allegorithmic license works the way it does.

Then let it expire, wait for the next sale and rebuy the next year's license. Or buy a subscription direct from Allegorithmic and drop the Steam Version. I usually buy my license during the summer sale. Therefore, I only get maybe 5 or 6 months of updates on it. I usually only install the steam license to activate it on the allegorithmic site then download the stand alone and work with that for the year. As the current trend for SP has been to create brand new folders on version change, there isn't a real reason to stick with the Steam version other than for sale price and convenience.

You can usually get a license for the next year version during the winter sale

I’d be careful of that one.

What do you mean?
In December they sell next year version on winter sale, that's how I bought mine. You literally can't miss the large 2018.

That's the thing right. I buy in June/July, Why would I start a new license in December? I lose 5 or 6 months of existing time.
If Steam and Allegorithmic could work out the issue of license expiry based on date bought or the new expiry be added to an existing account based on time, then we could buy whenever we like and not have to kitty foot around stuff like this.

What? I bought 2018 version in December 2017 during winter sale.

EDIT: Nevermind, I didn't understand it at first. And yeah that sucks.

This is the thing where ppl get lost when it comes to how the Steam allegorithmic license works. When they buy during the year, the Steam product stops updating on 31 Dec of the year bought. Ppl think they've lost 1 to 11 month of license, get all picked off, rant and rage or buy new licenses when they don't really have to. All they have to do is download the stand alone from allegorithmic and use that until their license truly expires.

Personally, I buy on Steam and instead of having 2 versions running and to save disk space, I download the most current version of the products I've bought from allegorithmic and use them. I don't have to worry about updates or upgrades being missed when the Steam product expires at the end of the year.
