Bruh wth is the resolution stuck on phone mode?

game has not been supported for a long long time. i recommend playing this only at your local arcade.

Missing A LOT of songs compared to the Nintendo Switch version. And they are not in any of the dlc packages. They just don't exist in the PC version. Oh well. At least I can quit going to a arcade that I gotta refill coins on versus the PC version where I can play a infinite amount of times without recharging coins.

Game is nothing like wai wai party. zero vocaloid songs. feels unpolished and unfinished. just get wai wai party on switch or go to an arcade with custom servers

Anyways, yea I was excited for this port release when it was announced back in like 2018, since it seemed a lot more convenient to play this at home rather than driving an hour or so to my nearest Round 1 (and also spend like $20 for like a few hours of play). Port gets released and it was pretty ok-ish. Had some timing issues and the initial song selection was small but I was optimistic that those would get patched out in a future update or something. Game was getting updated (yet the timing issue was never fixed even to this day) and some song packs released which I bought cause ya. Now we jump to now when this review was written and the game has pretty much been abandoned HAHA

So yea literally like idk a year or two ago, they straight up stopped updating the game. It's a shame honestly because there was some real potential for a pc port but oh well I guess. So if you're considering buying this game, just save your money and don't. Literally drive to your nearest Round 1 or hell even play the mobile version which is honestly significantly better. The song packs on mobile are way cheaper, like on the steam version it's like $6-7 per pack while on the mobile I'm 99% sure ALL of the packs are $4. Also on mobile you can calibrate your audio and input timing while on here you just have input timing which even with calibrating feels off. I've also heard you can't play this offline or something after a certain amount of days but idk I've always played with a connection so I can't speak on that really.

Basically to sum it up: Don't buy the game it's pretty much abandoned, play Groove Coaster at your nearest Round 1 if you want the full authentic cab experience(TM) or the mobile version if you want a more portable one plus don't want to spend money on gas and credits.

Edit: Oops I forgor Wai Wai Party exist for the switch, you can literally go play that as well. Idk much about it since I don't have a switch but I heard it was pretty good.

Final edit and bit of a side tangent (2025): So... the arcade cab and now more recently the mobile version have ended support. I guess pick up Wai Wai Party on the Switch if you still wanna play Groove Coaster but damn man...This really was my favorite rhythm game series and it sucks to kinda just see it slowly dying but ah well what can you do. No idea when or if the Switch version is gonna go under (and I also don't wanna edit this again) so I'm just going to preemptively say: RIP Groove Coaster you were one of my favorite rhythm games, may you finally rest in Rhythm Game Haven with the greats like MÚSECA and Wacca

I really wanted to like this version of Groove Coaster, however the steam/PC version is ultimately unplayable. The timing on the songs is poor and you can never fix the inputs which is disappointing because it always feels wrong. The UI is decent and the maps are fun but I wouldn't recommend buying it, maybe only if it was heavily discounted.

The game is long abandoned by the devs and most of the enjoyable songs are locked behind DLC and even then it's still overpriced and not worth the money.

If you really want to play Groove Coaster, consider any other version than this one (unless you're out of options).

Unfortunately a dead game, Wai Wai Party is better if you're looking for something with newer content.

Abandoned, very badly optimized, glitchful, and absurdly overpriced.

It is rough, after having played it on PC, at an Arcade and on the Switch, Steam/PC is sadly the worse version. But if its your only means to play groove coaster and you don't like mobile, I guess grab it on sale if you really want it. Wish the DLC was better bundled only Undertale and Touhou have bundles currently. If you were looking for the Vocaloid or Hololive content it is not here.

its a shame this port is so awful because this game is very fun when its fun but god the inconsistent input delay was never fixed and the songs still cost an arm and a leg. also the game needs to connect to the internet like once a week in order to even play it at all so that sure gives me hope for the future of this dead asf port lmfao. just play the switch version if u wanna play this
