Hilarious
I looked this game up after seeing it on James Channel's video on the DS Taito Paddle accessory. Among other things in the video, the game looked super cool and I was pleasantly surprised to see it was on Steam. The reviews seemed pretty good too and... what's this? Online-only?

After confirming it's true, I... well what can I say? It's just really funny to be honest. Mandatory internet connection? On ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Space Invaders? On a game with literally no internet features besides like, a leaderboard? Really?

What makes it the craziest is it isn't even just some annoyance or spit in the face. This is a port of a DS game, it was literally designed to be played on the go. As many reviewers pointed out, this game would have been a great fit for the Steam Deck, not to mention a light arcade game like this is also a great candidate for killing time on a less powerful laptop. Always-online DRM actively harms the experience of the game, and I can't help but laugh.

And again, for what purpose? It's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Space Invaders dude, do you really think people are so crazy about this one port of one of the most cloned games ever? Do you think piracy of SIE on Steam is gonna cost you millions in lost sales? Are you maybe just absurdly vigilant about keeping the online leaderboard legitimate? Either way, absolutely pathetic. Maybe I'll see if I can find the DS version sometime.
