X8 Cheats + Achievements

Does using cheats disable achievements? I'd like to play through as Layer.

I'm not 100% sure (it's been a while) but they shouldn't effect achievements in X8

Do cheats even work for the Steam version of X8? I tried using the Left x3, Right x3, Left x4, Right x4 cheat code at the title screen to get the Ultimate Armor, but there was no sound effect indicating it did anything.

I can confirm they absolutely work.

Wonder what I'm doing wrong then. :( Unless they removed the notification sound in this version.

EDIT: Just tried again. Did it at the "Press Start" screen, did it while it highlighted at New Game, then did a third time while Continue was highlighted. Is there some kind of condition before it works that I'm unaware of? It's a pretty simple code. Left 3, Right 3, Left 4, Right 4.

You have to do the code when you are at the Press Start screen. If done right, X will say something. Ultimate Armor will be an option for X on the stage select screen.

If you are using a controller you have to use the directional pad, not the analog stick. The code also works with: Left x3, Right x3, Left x4, Right x3.
