Iris, Alia, Layer, Palette, Berkana, the Inami Temple rescue Reploids, Cinnamon, Marino, Ferham, Rafflesia and the Belladonnas, Nana, Jasmine, Cumin, and Saffron are all welcome in the Mega Man X series.
Mega Man (and video games in general) are no longer a boys-only club, and haven't been for many years now.
---
Kinda reminds me of an argument from years back, about why game devs add playable female characters, since according to those little boys "most gamers are men", asking what man would ever play as a girl.
I answered that I do quite often, and then said "I mean, what would you rather stare at for 20+ hours, some big burly GI Joe wannabe... or a really cute girl in a mini-skirt?".
(...I love that after I said that, many guys chimed in shouting that they play as girl characters all the time (despite some of them earlier saying they would never play as a girl))
And considering how Rock was clearly shown to have a sister ever since day one, I wouldn't say this series has "never ever been a game about girls". Women in this franchise have had a strong presence way before X8. Where? In Legends, 7 years prior. Tron even got her own game...
You say you're not trying to be a misogynist but this is unfortunately all this post comes off as.
- I actually forgot that.
I thought she was 19. but you're right: in Zero 1, she's only 14.
(And in ZX, is over 200)
- And even then, in the Ruby Spears cartoon, while Roll was at first subjected to that whole tired "stay in the kitchen" routine, that only lasted for a couple episodes before they started writing her better, and she became a useful character (... well, as useful as everyone else in that show was)
- I was thinking that about this thread, but I wasn't going to say it.
I like megaman X for the gameplay and relationship between X and Zero(these are the main characters...), not the stupid shoehorned love interests or metal boobs and subtle fanservice that was in x8 and the zero series, lame lame lame, is all I have to say.
I mean look at megaman X dive costumes lol, what a shame, a real shame, mechanical reploids in swimsuits... yeah ok, guess that's what pseudo-megaman fans like, huh
If x9 ever gets released I seriously hope it doesn't pander to you dirty people who just want to see iris in a bikini
Iris and Alia are literally the only good characters from that list, and rescue reploids? lol grasping at straws, also cinnamon is a terrible generic angel design that doesnt fit megaman at all as well as the rest of the awful OC cast of command mission
How is not having crappy female designs like Layer make megaman boy-only? Her character is literally made for boys, she flirts with Zero in the beginning of the game, did you even play this game
When I play a megaman game I am not playing it for some perverted reason, I don't know what your problem is but I'm am not staring at anyone's butt while I play megaman, I play megaman or zero because they are cool characters, not because they have butts, thats the dumbest argument I ever heard
It is extremely subtle because of Capcoms oversight of perverted Inafune. Take a look at Luminous avenger ix and look at Kohaku(also 14 years old), that is Inafune unchained, thats the type of scientist girl he likes to create, it is completely obvious what the intention of Ciel was in Zero games and the only saving grace was capcom telling inafune to cut it out
And edit note: I don't care about legends or crappy spinoff 3d megaman, it was just a failed foray into the 3d fad back in the day and it just sucked, I picked it up from blockbuster years ago and felt like I got robbed not only of my money but the time wasted on that trashheap of a game
Thing is, you really should've posted this in the Trololo section, it's reserved for this kind of antics.
(How do you signal a moderator to move a troll thread to there?)
- Nah, I've hated Inafune ever since he tricked me into buying Mighty No. 9, one of the worst games I've ever played.
- Oh, don't tell me you're one of those who say a series must have no other characters besides the main lead.
Sonic the Hedgehog gets hit with enough of that garbage. Mega Man doesn't need it, too.
A series needs those extra characters, not everything need revolve around the main lead.
(Besides, what did X and Zero do to not deserve happiness or a social life? Both are one step away from a nervous breakdown, they need others)
- Hey, it worked for Tecmo's Dead or Alive, didn't it?
Besides, they were doing that even as far back as RockmanXOver, with a shot of Ciel in a bikini.
I liked that detail of their bodies having visible joints and seams.
Makes sense, for people that need maintenance quite often.
Also, there's no psuedo in this Mega Man fan.
- Nah, Dive already gave us that with Iris.
Besides, that would require bringing her back to life, which would be nice.
(Though hard to justify, as they've said it's illegal to resurrect Reploids)
>"I don't care about legends or crappy spinoff 3d megaman, it was just a failed foray into the 3d fad back in the day and it just sucked..."
There's a really odd level of irony coming from these two comments when it comes to judging real "mega man fan" or not.
And yeah, I personally don't care about Inafune, we literally got MM11 out of him no longer being with capcom so I'm absolutely happy with that.
I don't understand your argument at all and I don't think I'll be continuing with this because it just seems like no one's going to convince each other at the end of the day. I'm totally open to having positive discussions about the games though! Have a nice day.
megaman/rockman is literally in the title of the games, if a megaman game doesnt have megaman in it then.... it's not megaman
zx advent is a massive failure of a game because it's literally not megaman, it's not zero, it's basically some nobody wearing a robot suit, and even then x7 almost failed by making axl the main character in a MEGAMAN X game, the two main characters have always been X and Zero, when I buy any megaman game I wanna play as megaman or any of the real main cast (rock/x/zero/protoman/bass/roll, heck I'd even play as rush) you cant just remove them and call the game megaman
I can not take you seriously as a fan of the series if you really think reploids in swimsuits and whatnot is cool, it is not, the intentions are so obvious and it really doesn't belong in a game like this, I love these games and don't want to associate them with fan service for teenage boys
If you really were a fan, you'd know Legends 3 didn't happen because Capcom fired Inafune, then pulled the plug on all Mega Man games for 9 years.
(Megaman Volnutt was indeed going to return in the 3rd game. The prologue would feature some new characters helping to bring him back.
But I guess you hate story and plot development, and just want to go "pew pew"?)
Legends was an amazing series, some of the Mega Man franchises best work.
You mean the series that's aimed at teenagers shouldn't cater to teenagers?
ZX Advent was FAR from a failure.
It was a very successful game.
The only reason it didn't get its followup, was due to the aforementioned plug pulling Capcom did (due to Capcom having a hissy fit over Inafune).
So, you really ARE one of those who think it has to be only the main character.
Then the Mega Man Zero series must be a failure to you, as Zero was never once called a "Mega Man"?
Wait, so you consider Roll one of the "real" characters, but not Alia, Layer, and Palette (or Aile and Ashe in ZX series)?
...Oh, great, one of those fans that thinks only the Classic series was good (and only the 8-bit era, at that).
So you have a very limiting opinion (backed with wrong information), and are now sitting there demanding that we all conform to that?
No thanks.
you read my posts wrong, Alia is the only good operator and the other ones from x8 are really dumb and stupid, I mean they could have picked relevant characters like signas or douglas instead of going for cute/sexy crap that ruined the series. Legends and zxa were both failures and inafune was fired for being lame and trying to make more lame games and so instead he went on to make garbage like gal gun and spoil gunvolt with excessive pedophilic fanservice and even worse stage design than the zero series
No, I've read your posts 100% correctly.
You're either trolling (likely), or you don't want girls in your imaginary boys-only club, while claiming to not be misogynistic.
- Harpuia is about as much of a main character as Colbor and Joan are.
- Legends... a failure?!!
In what possible, conceivable sense?!!
You mean the 100,000+ signatures of fans demanding Legends 3, the thousands more that crashed a Capcom chatroom yelling for Legends... all of that, you think doesn't exist?
Words cannot express how wrong you are.
No, Legends was a major success.
ZX and ZX Advent were well-received.
And Inafune was fired for allegedly insulting Capcom's executives and their policies.
Stop trying to spread misinformation. No one's falling for it.
legends is just dumb ok, I played it when it released and I thought it sucked, the controls are bad, the story is boring too, I guess not nearly enough fans to make a third game
Harpuia is developed yes. But... you're literally saying other characters SHOULDN'T get developed and shouldn't even have a chance of development because they're unimportant and not Mega Man. Do you know how stories work???
