Mega Man X8 with Japanese speech and English text?

Luckily there is an option to set the game to the Japanese version(hit X(xbox360 controller) a few times before starting the game), but unlike the previous PC-release there doesn't seem to be any option to turn on English text+subtitles?

Yeah I figured that out as well, but doing the voice folder is easy compared to the sound effects...
The file names in that folder are not the same between ♥♥♥ and Eng
eg:
♥♥♥: 07_Rockman_X8_3_L.xsew
Eng: 07_MMX8_2_z_L.xsew

So I'm sitting here having to manually rename everything :anguished:

I would make a .bat file or something, but there is no file-naming standard so someone more competent in that area would have to fill in xD

That method isn't 100% bulletproof, there's still oddities here and there... Hopefully someone can nut out a 100% undub.

Yeah I was going to do that but I was pretty much tired of all the BS you have to manually do as seen in that guide's comments. Hopefully one of you can finish that damn thing because playing MMX8 with US voices is unbearable.

Couldn't we just change the text files in the Japanese version instead though? Like, just display the US translation in Rockman X8 and call it a day?

Unfortunately, that's not simple either. I grew up playing "Rockman" so I actually prefer Japanese version. I tought a simple swap \nativeDX10\X8\romPC\data\mes would do the job, but unfortunately not. If you tried it, you'll get a fatal error saying some file doesn't exist. Looks like the non-♥♥♥ version refer to a relative part from the ♥♥♥ files. It probably need some hex editing and stuffs.

Neeeeeeeeeeeeat! You saved me quite a headache! That should cover everything in terms of game's dialogue right? (Don't care about prerendered cutscenes, those are a far easier fix on my end and will save some size in similar projects anyway).

Will you undub X7 too? That one is probably even more unbearable to play in its current state (I mean... It's already X7 so it's unbearable by default but still!).

I believe X7 actually have an option to change the voice in this collection though. Speaking of which, I seems to remember the X8 PC release actually have this option too...

Turns out I was playing the UK version, which lacks said option.

*sigh* luckily I haven't beaten a single maverick yet, time to move to the US version and start anew.

Yep, X8 had it. Couldn't find said option in any language I tried so far though.

Yeah X8 PC actually has the option.... Ridiculous that this version does not. X8 PC still runs fine on modern hardware too.
