Your Opinion of X8 if You’ve Never Played it.
I want to hear the opinion of players who have just tried X8 for the first time. What do you think of it? I think it’s the 3rd best in the series and I’d like to hear your opinion.

I played Mega Man X8 years ago back on the PS2. I thought the game was alright. There were some level designs that were not that great. Axl was definitely more fun to play as compared to how he was in X7. The weapon system and items were nice. Overall, I had fun playing it, and Capcom made up for the train wreck that was X7.

I know it says "...if you've never played it", but X8 is absolutely an underrated gem. I played it back in 2010 and have been waiting for a rerelease like this one ever since. I'd hate seeing people bash at it simply because it came after X7, or because X5 was supposed to have been the ending of the series, but X8 did so much right. The voice acting, the gameplay, the graphics, the music, the cel-shaded CGI...

Played it like a year or two ago on the PC version of all things. 2 gimmicky stages were kinda meh gameplay-wise. The rest of them was cool and the controls felt good. Character swapping was a well done idea this time. Story was alright and voice acting was like Maverick Hunter X which I really liked. Artstyle was fine but X4-X7 one is still my favourite. Felt like a game next to X4 and X in terms of consistent gameplay and fun. That's how I remember it. I did like only one playtrough of it on normal so I'm definetly gonna replay it to have a more solid opinion. That locked final boss tho.

I never was into the PS2 games of the MMX series beign more into playing Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter and renting MMX Command Mission. To me going to 3d for these games was jarring to me and what killed the series off personally as MM 11 is not that at all from what I read on IGN and seen on YouTube back in June watching E3 streams. I would love to see Capcom some day in the future remaster it's entire BOF and MM Legends RPG collection for the PC like this one here being 4 games each as BOF 4 is on PC as a port already on CD. I do not know how well it would do though as Mega Man Legends collection including Command Mission and the BOF series with Dragon Quarter would sell but I think most Dark Souls fans would see Dragon Quarter as like that game and Zelda fans would see MM Legends in the same light. BOF 1-4 are masterpeices in role playing games form japan in the 90s as SE is now releasing DQ XI here on PC as well soon so there might be a market for these old Capcom RPG classics.

X8 isnt a 3D game, and I think its much much better than X7. Pretty sure X8 sold badly considering both 6 and 7 came right before it and both were bad.

Prior to MMXLC 2's release, MMX8 on the PC was a fun experience but it's even more obscure than the PS2 version to say the least. X8 did sell badly; around 35,546 copies were sold which made X9 rather unlikely and they should have put the PC version on Steam so that would have saved it from obscurity.

They really should've. I mean, a few years ago (2015 or 16) they put X8 as a PS2 Classic or however they name it available for the PS3. So why not rerelease the PC version as well?

At least X8 is on Steam now.

Yeah, but I meant the original version, you know? Would've been great to have it before the Legacy Collection.

Is, uh, X 8 considered to be one of the harder ones? I've beaten X 1 through 6 but 8 is honestly kicking my ass. Could be that I am just really rusty—I haven't played a Mega Man type game in several years.

Hmm. Not sure. I always found it rather easy, unless you went for the Rare Metals and 100% clear.

I found X8 to be medium difficulty. It’s not as easy as X1 and X4, but it’s not as “challenging” as X6. Remember that every time you lose, you keep the metals. So you’re always making progress towards more health and abilities.

I gave it a full playthrough and found it to be corny. As for the gameplay, I couldn't get used to the controls, and I hated farming for all the chips to fully upgrade. I also was not fond of the additional characters, the stupid limit breaks...I actually loved the first hour or so, but something happened....Oh right, Capcom screwed up the rest of the game!

I'm weird, though, because I'm an X5 fanboy so....go figure!

X5 is ok for me. It’s not bad, and I like the ending, but I thought it was just average compared to X4. And X8 being corny, well, it’s a series called Megaman.

That's a poor argument. The first few X games made you feel cool as fuck, with the excellent, minimalistic story-telling. X5 started to lose it's touch, and of course 6-8 were just garbage cash-grabs in a cheap attempt to milk the series.
