How do cheats work for Mega Man X8?

After playing X5 and suffering through X6 and X7, I figured I would just use the cheats to unlock everything possible in X8. But when I beat the intro stage, only Ultimate X is unlocked, while Zero and Axl only get their stock armor!

Does the Ultimate Armor X code override Black Zero and White Axl?

Been ages since I played the PC Version and read about the cheats, but as far as I know you can only get one of them that way.
However, X8 isn't "as bad" with stuff.
however, it has more instadeaths again and game overing means back to the beginning of the stage, you can purchase additional 1ups though(in game currency, those metal chips in stages) and there's one consumable item that allows you to get hit by spikes once(but when that happens, reduces you down to one hp)

You can unlock the other Ultimate Armors(Or any Ultimate Armors for that matter), it's best to look up the info regarding that as especially Axl's can be missed (the way you unlock the others is more easy, can say if there's interest for it)

Thanks for the heads up, but I figured it out. Turns out, you DO get Black Zero and White Axl, you just have to choose between them and their normal forms on the Character Select screen AFTER you highlight them and confirm them the first time. Oops.

Oh, interesting, I thought you could only get one but that's interesting and good to know.
And yeah, they're standalones, something I like, so you can still play with whatever version you want.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure you can get as many cheats in as possible, but I'm not sure.
