Mixed feelings about this game
So I finished my 2nd playthrough, first getting rejected by ghost girl and second taking ghost girl to prom. However, throughout those 2 playthroughts I discovered uh, interesting things.

Dabbing, gender pronouns, nobody being strictly straight or gay (maybe it wouldve been neat if people could try to woo a straight / gay character into giving it a shot, adding more challenge and offering new ideas for achievements n such)

Those're just a few of the things I noticed that kinda irk me. I mean, i'm not gonna say someone should avoid this game because how hard they try to push "lol memes im dabbing" or "im a huge buff guy but want to be called a she / they rather than a he" and so on. However, this game seems like its straight out of tumblr at times.

Again, dont get me wrong I absolutely love this game. The graphics are amazing, the boardgame style gameplay is addicting and fun. So many ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ unlockables that push you to play differently each time. Oh, and the credits. Oh god the credits. One of my favorite songs playing while you get to see pics of all the characters having a great time. It's an insane amount of fun, and im actually about to pick up a copy for my gf so as soon as she gets home we can binge this game tonight, but there's some bad and downright awkward design choices.

It ends up leaving me with some questions. Was this game made for the tumblr crowd in mind or is it just a bunch of people who are simply trying to appeal to everyone while accidentally coming off as rabid tumblr users? Is there a whole lot more of this "lol epic memes" trash pushed hard on the players throughout the game? And finally, is this game gonna get some more content? It already has quite a bunch, but damn would it be nice to get some more. Like, maybe new places to go during the day or new side characters to run into during lunch. Or more than anything, NEW PLAYABLE CHARACTERS. There's only 2 dudes and 2 girls, give us 2 more of each gender. What if 4 dudes are playing or 4 chicks are playing? Then 2 of those people have to play as a gender they may not prefer to play as (pronouns dont help here).

Also just to clarify, I don't hate tumblr users or trans people or any of that. My gf is trans and uses tumblr every now and then, my favorite band's lead singer is trans and has a tumblr blog to talk to his fans and post stuff about his band, ect. However I simply think the inclusion of it here is really not necessary at all and doesn't add to the gameplay.

EDIT / TL;DR:
Is this game tumblr fanservice? Is the game absolutely filled to the brim with "lol epic meme do a dab" rather than monster puns (much prefer monster puns)? And is the game ever gonna get updates to fix some of these issues or simply add new cool stuff?

From my perspective of playing, I figured the game is just trying to entertain everyone. It's a party game, so imagine if 4 girls played this game, of course they can keep the pronouns as is, but they can change it aswell (And go for whoever they like). Same with 4 guys playing.

As for the dabbing and everything, the game is just trying to be funny, taking Highschool and exagerating everything about it with trends and whatnot.

Would you really thing a school filled with monsters exisit and have a totally normal everday "Human" life?

Final Verdict: It's just a party game to have fun and spend a few hours enjoying a couple laughs. Not everything is "Deep meaning, trying to convey hidden messages about gender" and whatnot.

The issue I have with there only being 2 playable females and 2 playable males is that four guys playing may wanna not just be guys, but look like them too, same with females. Although it isn't a huge issue, just a visual thing.

I get the game is trying to be funny, although it tries a bit hard and honestly as a senior at highschool nobody dabs anymore. I suppose the constant discussing about memes (ghost girl mainly) makes sense but there are quite a few outdated things that just really come off as cringy.

And, im glad the game isn't casual high school life, im not against that at all. Although it does seem too awkward at times and I much rather have a lot more of the crazy monster stuff. The game can be really funny though, like the whole scooby doo joke with ghost girl and werewolf boi.

And just to be clear, I would honestly hate this game if it was another one of those "deep" dating sims with actual hardcore emotions. I just want a silly monster dating sim board game with jokes littered everywhere. And im really glad thats what I got. I just wish a few of these things didn't exist or were fixed.

I suppose, but I honestly just dislike a few things about this game which bother me on every playthrough.

To be honest, if added some memes and allowing gender pronoun options give you the impression of 'rabid tumblr users', I'd think that's more of a problem with you than the game. It's hardly ever in your face about it from what I've seen. It doesn't come across like it's trying to spread some agenda of social justice and gender nonconformity. It's not like it berates the player or forces social justice down your throat. One of the characters is literally a demon who burns down orphanages for fun. Another is a princess who destroys someone's reputation by saying they save babies from lawnmowers, and she owns legions of slaves. Half these characters are morally corrupt in every way. But if gender pronouns make the developers of this game look like 'rabid tumblr users' to you, maybe you are really blowing this out of proportion? Letting you pick a pronoun literally doesn't hurt anyone. It has literally no effect on the game if you don't want it to.

I've had multiple playthroughs of the game, primarily dating Damien, Miranda, or Vera, and I've only seen dabbing brought up once in an interaction between Polly and Miranda, and the joke was just that Miranda didn't know what memes were. I think that's probably more of just a problem you have with Polly's character than the game itself, since I spend very little time with polly and have come across none of those issues. It's most likely Polly is just the meme girl, in which case... yeah, you'll see a lot of memes with her. Try focusing on another character and you'll likely hardly run into them at all.

Basically I feel as though your problems are blown out of proportion just a bit. They hardly seem as big or serious as you make them out to be.

Understand at the time I only had done 2 long playthroughs, each focusing on Polly while playing as the weird black goo dude thing. I never said there was a lot of dabbing, but other than the one you stated where it does happen, if you go to the outdoors as the black goo guy your character dabs. Again, not a huge deal but god is that awfully cringy for me.

The pronoun stuff and all that got me thinking the devs were tumblr users because
1. The trailer. I don't know why but its something about the trailer that screams "I love tumblr". In the trailer they show the choosing a character and when it says choose your pronoun the guy goes "woah nice!!!", not making this the main point but rather an example.
I honestly don't care if the devs are tumblr fanatics, I simply stated I hoped it wasn't something that really shows in the game a lot.

But yea, lately ive been trying to woo over other characters and I noticed how little I hear about "lol memes bro" and other stuff that makes me physically cringe. And, this post was very clearly explaining that these are my problems im having with the game because of how i feel about things. Im not stating that Polly as a character is awful and awkward and that its a fact. Im saying I think this meme garbage is awkward in my opinion.

EDIT: Ok dear god I take it back, Vampire nerd is what really makes me think the devs are tumblr fanatics, not Polly.
