Locked in?

Does the game really lock you in to who you should pursue at the start? I've played twice now and both runs the person who popped up as relating to the quiz at the beginning has showed up in 90% of the random events even though I had no desire to pursue them. Seriously I like the game but this is really killing it for me. We should be free to try and pursue who we want not be pushed towards a specific person based on a random quiz question.

Yeah I've also played 2 solo games by now and it looks like I get stuck with 1-2 people most of the game. The first game was like 100% Vera the second one was Damien with Liam events until I screwed up one of the Yaoi events and then it was Damien, Liam, and Scott events. I haven't played the multiplayer yet (but will be trying it out soon) but I don't understand how I am supposed to competitively multiplayer when it is hard to go after the same person.

I had Damien as well on my second run. At one point I even screwed it up with him to where he wouldn't talk to me at lunch, which would have been fine since I didn't want to pursue him except he was always sitting next to the person I wanted to talk to (Polly) making it impossible to even pursue her in general. It's just really frustrating when I go in wanting to pursue a certain character and the game actively seems to discourage me from doing that. It just really sucks the fun out of it.

I'm assuming you are playing in multiplayer short mode. That is the shorter experience, so you have few turns to "customize" your preferences. In full mode, you will have the first turns to let the game try to "know" which character is your preference so it can show you more events regarding him/her.
My advice would be to keep playing, you would end up getting attached to all of them! <3

I've been playing single player full length and that wasn't the case I got. It literally just gave me Damian 90% of the time with the only real exceptions being lunchroom moments where I was intentionally able to go somewhere else, and as said I couldn't pursue Polly there either because she was constantly sitting with Damian who wound up hating me and chased me off any time I tried to sit at the table.

Ahh I had the same thing happen with Damian. I wasn't trying to intentionally make him hate me...but I guess I'm not cool/badass enough for him. By the point he hated me I just didn't have anywhere else to sit though.
