The shop
Do I need to unlock all items before I can date Valerie? Because she's not unlocking.

to ask Valerie for a date you just need to go to the shop, NOT BUY ANYTHING (and do not ask for the gift either). and get out. Do it a few times and she will tell you that the next time you go to the shop you will have a date with her. There begins his route.
note: you cant buy anything from the shop while you make her route, she will not be there.

I'm doing that but it's a no go. That's why I'm asking if all items need to be unlocked first.

I'm not sure what the exact requirements are, but you DO need to unlock the option to romance her before she'll react to you leaving her shop three times without buying anything. The requirement might be getting at least one good ending with each of the six main love interests, or it might just be getting a certain number of different good endings, but whenever you meet it you'll get a notification at the end alongside the "images unlocked" and such saying something like "something has changed in the shop; you can now romance the shopkeeper!".

you need to date all the opther regs in classic and then visit the shop three times w/o buying anything

you might need to do a long game for vera and liam because of their dificulty level. messing up even once and/or gaining another character's approval over vera's in particular could screw you over

the best way to do valeries route is to date evrey main character with a normal ending and get a few secret endings as well you'll know you succeeded when you get the message saying the shop has changed slightly

then what do i do once we start talking? because she disappeared and i'm not sure how i go to prom with her? who do i ask? she's just not there.....how do i pick her at the end?

You have to choose yourself. That's how it is for all secret endings that are not about one of the main characters.
