Audio in this game

What is happenning with the audio ? played on Xbox One at release and it has the same problem, does someone have an idea what happened ? Are they working on it ? (no sarcasm pls)

Audio is completely off - guns are barely audible and voices are loud as hell. I can't tweak any settings to fix this. Completely pulls me out of the game; this is so bad I may refund the game... Ok, got to the second mission where you drive home - the vehicle audio is non-existent; seriously, can't hear the engine, can't hear tires skid, can't hear the horn... The fact that this game has been out for a year and this is an issue means they're not going to fix it. Refunding the game.

Mileage may vary but changing the audio to TV for me, fixed a lot of my problems. Makes no sense, can't say same will happen for you but would try cycling through all those settings and see if any help.
It is the only thing that has made a good difference for me, went from wanting to return it to having pretty good time, good luck!

I spent an hour messing with settings, that was one of the first things i tried. I even tried 3 different audio devices and changing the settings accordingly. TV speakers, Headset and 5.1 surround system, same issue on all 3.

I've had to resort to turning all the ingame volume settings for other sounds and turning up PC sound

music is at 20
Most other sounds between 50-75

Most of the time for music/games pc volume of 20-30 is enough. but with these settings, turned up to 60-70, the sound is almost balanced - but still the engine noise is far too quiet!!

Like when you actually play you can't hear it? I am playing on linux using proton and using OBS on a crap computer and everything has been working fine for me.

I've (probably) fixed it with switching my audio format from 192000 Hz to 96000 Hz at my sound device properties. Still testing, can't confirm this is a final solution, but works for me.

the audio mix is garbage in this game, with volition closed and the skeleton team only working on game breaking tickets not bugs we can consider this the :Ultimate Edition of this game, and by :ultimate i hope there is no sequel with these characters, all besides the boss sucks

Yeah I have just discovered this same issue. Sounds seam really low almost like they are playing in mono.

Same issue here. But fixed it by enabling "Dialog Clarity & Volume Smoothing" via DTS:X Ultra. Everything sounds a lot better now, i can even hear footsteps from nearby characters, wind noise and such. But such a shame, for people without dts or dolby. Kinda lame to pay for a game, and had to use another software to fix messy audio.
Edit: Performance is garbage also. Massive frame drops down to even 30 from 120, while in desert or when driving sometimes.
