For the current price ($20 launch sale), it's worth a shot. Even if you want to revisit it on a more discounted sale later on, it's worth a shot. I own it on another system and completed it last year and I thought it was tons of fun.
Thanks. If there's fun that can be had and the game isn't broken by constantly crashing and whatnot, I'll give it a shot.
There is plenty of fun to be had and at this point, a year after release most of the game-breaking bugs have been handled. There are a lot of quality of life improvements now and of course more content.
It may not be as bug-ridden as before, but it still isn't a good game. I won't deny the fact that you can have fun for a few hours, but that's it. That is, if you don't tire of the woke that it is smeared in.
But seeing as the guy named SR2; is anything but that, I'd honestly stay away.
This is more lighthearted, even though you kill just as many people, if not more.
It isn't completely silly like SR3 and 4.
The main character and their three friends are nauseatingly nice to each other. Then you turn around and murder people.
One moment you are dumping someone, inside their car, into a furnace, the next you are meeting your friends for boardgame night.
A bit like GTA: Princesses of Power.
Here's the general synopsis of the game: You start a gang to pay off your student loans.
Yes that is the overall reaching goal. Paying student loans.
To point out one of the activities you have to do to accomplish your criminal empire: You have to beat an opposing gang in a LARP. The way the LARP section is done is amazingly well done... but you are supposed wanna be gangsters. Running around a junkyard speaking in ye olde english throwing sticks and such at each other as 'spells' just kinda ruins the vibe.
Suits the characters. But they're geeky hipsters. NOT the Third Street Saints.
The game has all the silly fun that I expect from a Saints game, but considerably more grounded than the last series was by the 4th one.
Teenage edgelord boys are just mad and review bomb the game because "REEEEE the wokeness hurts me!!! It's soooo cringe becasue it's not just people shooting each other and telling sigma mindset jokes!!"
Really, they're crying because they can't virtually fulfill their ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up gangster power fantasies as well. Because it's too "woke" for them to identify with the main protagonist. (I guess because main protagonist has friends and they don't.)
Some also give it a bad review because it was an Epic Game Store exclusive and they feel entitfled to developers only publish games on their favourite platform. Probably because mommy and daddy won't allow another launcher on the family PC.
TL:DR
A bunch of entitled kids review bombing because they're fragile snowflakes.
I know fun and "worth it" is always subject and it's always best to try things out for yourself.
Doesn't sound like the game is unplayable due to crashes and whatnot like the older games here on Steam.
Price is pretty tempting, even though 2 hours isn't really enough for a game like this to see if I'll want to keep playing it. It's not too deep of a dive, considering the regular price.
Luckily it's on sale for a bit. So I'll do some thinking and watch more gameplay.
