Crossplay Guide
Hi everyone,

When Saints Row Launches on Steam on August 24 2023, we will also be implementing crossplay with Epic users. Using this feature is completely optional, if you wish to use it you will need Epic Online Services to do so (also an optional download).

Here is a guide on how to play with your friends on Epic:

Note: Steam and Epic cannot connect to each other via respective platform apps. Crossplay can only occur through in game matcnmaking.

Crossplay - Steam

1. Launch the game.
2. In the Main Menu, go to “Co-op Campaign.”
3. Select “Crossplay.”
4. Select “Log in to Epic Games.”
5. This will open a brief explanation of the crossplay feature, followed by the Epic Sign in Overlay. Follow the steps, signing into your account for Epic.
6. Once you are logged in, you should see your friends list populated with your Steam and Epic friends -- you can start a Crossplay session.

Connecting your Steam account to your Epic Account

1. Open the Epic Launcher.
2. Make sure you are signed into your Epic account. Click your profile image.
3. Under the drop-down menu, select “Account.” This will pop out a new web browser page and take you to your account settings on the Epic website.
4. In those settings, Select “Apps and Accounts.”
5. From there, click “Connect” under Steam.
6. Log into your Steam account connected to your email associated with your Steam account.
7. Your Steam account should be connected to your Epic account now. NOTE: Be sure to connect the correct Steam account as you will not be able to easily unlink them after they are connected.
8. From here, Epic handles crossplay and your friends list should be populated with the names of your Epic friends (including the Epic accounts that opted to link their Steam to Epic using the “Crossplay – Steam” steps).

Crossplay – Epic

1. Follow the above steps for connecting your Steam account in your Epic account settings.
2. Launch the game
3. Go to Co-op Campaign
4. From there you can co-op as you normally would. There is no Crossplay button for Epic. Instead, your Steam friends need to have enabled the crossplay themselves using the above steps under “Crossplay – Steam” in order to appear on your friends list.

Enjoy your time building a criminal empire with a friend!

THIS will keep me from having to re-purchase the game on Steam, YAY! :steamhappy:

Just like EOS was an "optional" download for Saints Row IV's decidedly not optional "Re-Elected" update, amirite?

C'mon Deep Silver. Have you not grown weary of embarrassing yourselves, constantly?

it wasn't optional no for SRIV - we have learned from that and made sure it is for this one.

What did you learn, exactly? That you can just break games people already bought--even years prior--and then do nothing to fix them?

Lesson learned I guess :/

Good joke....

we wanted to have that fixed but it was too late unfortunately. You can still play the original SRIV by using the beta branch we put in place, and if you don't wish to have EOS you can uninstall it and not use crossplay.

Steam isn't the only storefront involved. Do you have fixes for those others too? Why did you TAKE AWAY the Game of the Century edition at all for people who had already bought it? Plenty of games have entitled upgrades to "new" versions without any retroactive larceny on the studio's part. How can a similar, reasonable approach somehow fall so far beyond Deep Silver's capability?

Regardless, whenever you do manage to figure out everything that is wrong with your decisions, your actions, and your excuses, perhaps then I will consider removing Deep Silver from my Ignore list. This display, however, of gross incompetence and hubris while simultaneously taking your players completely for granted has already killed Saints Row as a franchise and Volition as a studio.

No. You have, in fact, clearly learned nothing at all.

Imagine being a company that has to learn the very basic thing that people don't want random crap software installed on their systems without permission. You truly are one of the most incompetent publishers out there.

Thanks, the game rules! Will my savegame from the EGS version transfer if I buy it on Steam?
PoroKuma Aug 26, 2023 @ 9:36pm
naw, i rather not play with EGS scums, always disable that when it comes to doing crossplay with an inferior store.

I bought this game on Epic ages ago and recommended a friend buy it with the discount, but crossplay co-op has been essentially unplayable. We get random disconnects, infinite loading screens, desync issues. The worst part is when we do get a disconnect, the other player can't join in the middle of a mission - it means we have to abort the mission and start again from scratch. We just spent about two hours trying to do a single mission, but couldn't finish it because of the disconnects.

Is anyone else experiencing similar issues? I see the odd thread here and there saying the same thing, but it doesn't seem THAT wide spread? Definitely haven't been able to find a solution.

If I get the Steam version as well, will that help at all?

It's disappointing because despite all the hate, I enjoyed the single player experience and wanted to do a co-op campaign.

I am having the exact same issues although I am the one who bought on steam and my buddy has it on epic. We have tried both of us hosting and had the same problem. The most persistent is the infinite load screens... That has happened over and over again. Wish there was a solution otherwise I'm going to get a refund since I bought it purely to play co-op with my friend

Nobody needs your RIDICULOUS (, & unjust) hate, nor schmearing of Epic games store, nor people who use, or even LIKE it. I have 75+ games on EGS, & 72 of them were FREE games I got just by logging in every 2 weeks to see if the current free games were ones I wanted, or not. YOU are the one who has problems. :steamhappy:
