That would be interesting but in classic? hmmmm. I wouldn't mind them giving it a try I guess.

If making a new play style ended up being too troublesome to justify, I would already be content with something like less damage + more bullets on screen.
If that doesn't happen (what is less probable, given that 2 years have passed already), I hope the possibility is considered for the next numbered game.
Nah. It would be nice to make her playable for a change, and it also wouldn't be that absurd, since she's also a robot. But if they added a Wily or Light playable too, I wouldn't complain.
She also is playable in Tatsunoko vs. Capcom and in the new Rockman X DiVE. Although she's not designed to fight, Rock also wasn't. And I think if Rock was in danger and it was necessary, she also would fight to help him.
And at the end, it don't need to necessarily make sense. Protoman and Bass were playable in Mega Man 9 & 10 as extra characters, their actions don't impact the story. The same for Alia, Layer and Pallet in X8 (after a lot of grinding).
It doesn't need to be something revolutionary, just some nice (and cheaper) little extra to the game.
In any case, there is little reason why Roll can't enter the battlefield. She is an android just as Rock is, and both were meant to be civilian assistants, not com-bots. The fact that Rock can do well in a fight is a pretty strong indicator of Roll also having that potential. If there is any difference between the two, it would be in mindset, not physique.
EDIT: I just realized I'm bringing back a discussion from 2018 lmao sorry
The semi-recent Mega Man: Rock N Roll fan game had a playable Roll upgraded the same way Rock was, so that's a way they could do it that would make sense.
Hm, I wouldn't consider Ciel to be a Roll incarnation, but I guess it's not completely unreasonable.
And don't apologize; we need some activity around here.
I think that would be nice enough. Also, it would be one more feature to differ Mega Man 11 from other iterations, even if it were mostly just a aesthetic change.
Ciel is the Z series Dr. Light equivalent. If anyone takes Roll's place in the Z series, it's Alluette.
Ooh, I like that.
Making her handle differently. The slide being changed makes sense, as it's similar to how Bass and Protoman do something different from the slide in certain games.
(That, and her outfit isn't really designed for sliding)
Super Adventure Rockman mentioned the difference between Rock and Roll.
Roll was the first among Light's robots to be affected by Ra Moon's EMP field, due to her being a residential-use domestic robot. While Mega Man wasn't affected due to being a combat robot.
In short, Roll's a light-duty residential robot (which doesn't require heavy shielding), while Mega Man was effectively rebuilt as military-grade hardware, with heavy armor and shielding, designed to take massive hits and energy blasts.
That said, as was mentioned, Mega Man originally was also a light-duty robot, made to be a lab assistant.
He was later modified to be a combat robot, being upgraded from residential-duty to military-grade specs.
So lorewise, no reason Roll fighting can't be handwaved away as an upgrade, if need be.
I mean, those are both technically the same thing.
Ciel is fully human, she just had her genes modified before being born.
(Granted, as of the ZX series, she's now a human cyborg.
(Whether she's still currently alive is a mystery, but it was strongly hinted she was alive not long before the first ZX game))
