Accidental sliding
If anyone else is using an XBox One controller, are you having a problem with accidental sliding? About half my deaths in the game have been from sliding when I'm trying to jump. I thought that assigning a slide button would fix that, but now the slide button slides AS WELL AS the regular method of down + jump. Any chance there's a way to turn that off?

I have the opposite problem, jumping when I wanted to slide

I've done that a couple of times. Much more rare for me than sliding when I want to jump, but it HAS happened.

I have a totally different problem, switching directions mid-slide when I don't want to because I slightly touched the other direction in preparation to move.
For once I wish my control was more limited and slide worked like the older games.

Play keyboard and problem solved or swap to Playstation controllers. While the Xbox One/360 controllers have one of the best layouts for any controller, the D-Pad is horrible and the majority know this for platformers and fighting games.

I don't think I really noticed it until this game. Although I did a Mega Man marathon for charity, and died a few times due to accidental sliding then, too. Should've realized it then. Guess I'll be looking for a good Playstation controller. Might be able to use my PS3 controller if those are plug and play. I'll test it later. Thanks for the tip Memo, you may have just save me a ton of frustration.

this isn't really the game's problem, this is just because of the design of the xbox one or xbox 360 controller, the stick is too sensitive and loose compare to the ps4 where it's more firm and precise, i always have issues with the xbox controller on platformers or fighting games because it needs perfect inputs at all times and since there is no deadzone in the control stick and it wiggles too much well.......u do accidental sliding....as many people recommend, don't play this game with an xbox controller (another reason why i think it's a garbage controller)

I've been having the same problem with my PS4 controller. Most of my deaths have been from sliding into pits when I meant to jump. I really wish rebinding Slide unbound it from down + Jump.

you have a faulty controller then.....i beat the game 4 times with the same controller in both bluetooth and connected to pc and i have had 0 issues with the controller.

I just mapped the slide button, L+R weapon switching is useless to me now.

same, i use R2 to rapid fire and i just use down and jump to slide because i've been so used to it ever since i did a megamarathon where i finished all 10 games in a week.....i'm used to it and it has never given me issues XD

Do all 10 in 1 sitting like I did and you may appreciate rebinding slide. Gets cramptastic about 6 games in.

I feel like i'm having all kinds of clumsy movements for some reason, and i just beat megaman X1-4 recently, so I don't think it's rust....

Maybe your controller got some maverick juice in it.

Just downloaded and started playing MM11 today on PS4 and it's happening via my PS4 dualshock (actually a "Circa" brand replaxemenf controller), but I came here seeking advice on this crap issue as i keep dying to pitfalls for no reason right off the bat! Guess there's no help to be had then idk what to do.

Edit: it seems I've had better luck actually using the L3 stick as opposed to the d-pad which I prefer using on 2d platformers like this and hollow knight etc. So far so good w the L3....

I always use the D pad for sidescrollers, so I hadn't really considered using the L3 stick, but I can see that as a viable alternative. I don't have as much of an issue with my PS4 controller, but I DO still very rarely pull an accidental slide with it. It's WAY less than with the XBox One controller though. Getting accurate D pad inputs with that one is a nightmare for me.
