This is how mine ended up looking. Nothing like the videos Ive seen on youtube that were considerably brighter.

That's what I mean, pretty weird and uncomfortable...
Hi, I am who posted the issue firstly, and have the exact same problem that Rusty have. I'm using desktop, not VR. Should I e-mail you too?
Probably best for you to email because I am on desktop also its probably going to be the same thing for this problem. I dont mind it too much be nice if it had a brightness slider but I actually like it like this cant wait to try it in VR though..
Did you solved it somehow? Had any reply from the devs?
I never sent anything in. Between work and hobbies I dont have the time for gaming like I used to. Last two days has been the most Ive been on steam in years.
Many youtubers these days are commercial. They do all kinds of stuff to their videos to attract viewers to earn money from advertising. But telling the truth is rarely one of them.
I found the game-brightness to be good (I play in VR using the Vive). Perhaps too bright compared to how it may have been for those who experienced it for real. I have been on ferries at night and if there are no lights you can see absolutely NOTHING. You can hear the water, but it's only visible a few feet away from the ship-lights (And mostly it's just the white brush you can see, but the water is pitch-black). But obviously it would be zero fun if they had made the game like that, so I think they balanced it very well :)
In real life it must have been so utterly scary it's hard to fully understand.
But if that's what the game was like, it would be no different from wearing the VR-headset while it was switched OFF :)
